Hey, fellas, d'ya think it took snafu every bit of restraint not to look back at sledge in the train bc he knew if he looked back--even for just a few seconds--he would've never wanted to leave him, but didn't want to tie sledge down to him because he knew sledge had a life, a family, a future waiting for him at home, and believed himself to be a reminder of the horrors sledge lived through in the pacific and didn't want sledge to live through that everyday seeing him so he--and damn did he try his very best not to look back even just to look at his face one last time? Well, do you?
This is James' blackboard while he's planning another crime btw.
