Buggy screwed up his face as he tried to understand where she was going with this. Getting a bit wet was never a big deal to him- whether he couldnât swim anymore or not. Heâd been rather lucky in that department.
âHmm⊠Is this flashy spell just gonna toss me out to sea?â Pale blues narrowed at her playfully as he crossed his arms, leaning in toward her. âWhat, exactly, are you gonna do?â
She mimicked the playful narrowing of his eyes with a smile.
âThe point of an outing is to go together, ya know.â She chuckled, smiling fondly before actually explaining.Â
âI want to take you to see the reef, just south of here. I imagine youâve never seen a reef from eye level before, under the water, and its one of my favorite places to go.â The younger pirate took off one of her rings to demonstrate with.Â
âItâll be a bigger scale with us butââ She set the ring in the palm of her hand, forming a bubble around it. âWould be just like walking on the beachâ Martha held out her hand between them for him to inspect the mini version of her spell.Â
He blinked, his attention now on her hand in front of him. "A reef?" His attention certainly was peeked. How long had it been since he'd seen one? He used to be so good at swimming before his accident eating the fruit- he'd almost forgotten what it was like being underwater; let alone enjoying it.
"Whoa! Wait- what?!" Buggy blinked again, leaning in closer to her hand to get a better look. "You mean you can use that bubble thing over both of us and we can go under water?!" Lifting his hand to hers, he proceeded to poke at the bubble. "Are you serious!?"

CHARACTER ASKS!!!
This is a loaded question lol it entirely depends on which relationships we're talking about! I think his closer relationships are certainly his life blood. He needs them to feel needed and important (and to support him through the bullsh** he puts himself in). Buggy gets a lot of personal verification and confidence by having people around him who treat him nicely/well.
On the other hand there are always people he doesn't like lol and they are typically people who either scare him, or people who are quick to tease him. It's easy to pull his confidence down because of his personal insecurities, so he lashes out.
In short- his relationships are important to him because they validate the importance of his existence- in his perspective.

Martha laughed, immediately wrapping her arms around Buggy and pressing a kiss to his nose. "Awwww are you not getting enough of my attention?" She teased. "Alright you win, you have me now."
After his whining, Buggy instantly smiled as his demands were appeased. He snuggled up to his friend and sighed, pleased. "FINALLY. What took you so long?"
Buggy closed his eyes, smiling proudly to himself. His hands finished pouring for her and floated back over to where they belong- reattaching to his forearms.
"Well, it's not like I can just do whatever without looking first," he clarified. "And I can only reach so far before I lose it." He shrugged, opening his eyes again so he could pour a drink out for himself and set the bottle down next to him.
"Hm- Well, that depends..." After taking a drink, Buggy's eyes lifted to the ceiling in thought. The whole thing was so natural to him now that he hadn't thought much about it in a long time. "Sure, I feel it if I get cut, but not really if I choose to do it myself."

âHoh~? A spell outing?â He looked to her, noting her fidgeting, and cocked his brow in intrigue. âWhat? Are you gonna drown me?â He snorted. âLike my flashy self would be afraid of water!!â
His casual reaction eased some of her worry, though the drowning joke made her playfully bonk her head against his shoulder. âI would never! Im offendedâ She laughed, her hands not fidgeting so much now. Her smile giving away teasing words.Â
âNot afraid, but I do know you cant swim. Even some of my crew took a bit to trust I would keep them safe underwater to do outings like this. Its a big show of trust on a devil fruit users part.â
