I wonder if all is made to be unfair. To be so unbelievably absurd. If we are meant to be constantly fighting ourselves and reality. We hate and we scream and we cry and we break. Pieces of a mirror, all the same but capable of drawing blood nonetheless. So much rage, so much isolation. Was it meant to be like this?

Did our mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers, did they all want this? Did our teachers, our friends, our priests and our doctors, did they all want this? Did all those who have passed? Would they be proud?

We must not forget our past. We must not simply be complacent with how misery slithers into hearts and takes and takes and takes. Like poison, it kills. It keeps the silence we so much value. We love when we don't hear the screams. If we did, we would be screaming too. We would be angry, too. We would run. We would claim how absurd this is, has always been. We would see how things are upside down.

Yes I love dark Academia, but on this account we don’t support:

• Racism

• Sexism

• Elitism

• Actually doing unhealthy things to yourself

• Romanticizing self harm

• Homicide

• Drug abuse

Etc etc etc....

I do like the style of the aesthetic, but I don’t believe I will actually try to warp my life into the lifestyle of dark Academia. We should embrace the positive parts and drop the negative. It’s almost 2020, people need to drop those negative ideals. This does not mean we have to make new aesthetics like “ light Academia” and “grey academia.” There just has to be a change of mindset around certain things that come along with idea of Dark Academia. You can keep drinking coffee, and reading, and just liking the style of the aesthetic, just don’t let it cloud your judgement. Keep dark Academia clean, and there won’t be anymore of this back and fourth between people.

(Also like yes, in books you can have dramatic things like homicide among other things (not that it’s good.) A lot of writers do incorporate it into their books. However, it is fictional and just that.)
