“That’s how it’s always been with us, you bring the light.”

“I’m not flirting. I’m just being extra nice to somebody extra attractive.”

“He shouldn’t of mentioned that but it doesn’t mean that you do this to them Barn!” Elena did her best to keep her composure instead of completely blowing up. “You’re better than that, than him.”
She didn’t understand that by the male bringing up rehab, it brought up the disappointment and embarrassment that he’d failed all up again. “But I’m not am I? 3 days, that’s all I could do.” Pathetic was the only word he could think of to really describe how he currently felt about himself.
Skyler shook her head, “Big deal, you’re out and he’s probably some idiot.” She told him shaking her head taking in breathes. “Fine, just the smell of blood gets to me.”
“I was only in there three days.” He admitted, looking away from her for a second before taking a deep breath. “Shit, sorry.” Barney replied quietly, wiping the dry blood from his mouth, revealing that there was no longer a cut.
Shaking his head and running a few fingers through his hair, Damon took a few steps backwards. “What the hell is going on with you?” His voice was stern, but a look of concern was embedded in his eyes. His mind wandered back, re-watching the fight in his head– his son wasn’t like the man that was standing before him. Cocking his head to the side, he looked at him expectantly.
Running a hand through his hair, Barney looked at his Dad as he spoke to him. He didn’t know, he didn’t know what had happened for him to leave rehab, and guilt hit him, he was going to have to tell him, and possibly disappoint him in the process. “It doesn’t matter!” Barney snapped back when his Dad had finished. He knew he was going to have to tell him what had happened at some point, but he wasn’t sure he could.
his behaviour around her was one she wasn’t used to seeing, one that made her unsure how to react. “i really haven’t seen one that was serious. sure sibling ones but never one like that. never one in front of me like that at least.” marissa could sometimes come across as sheltered, as though she hadn’t really explored but really, she just avoided seeing things like that, avoided being around her family where it was more likely to occur. “someone could one day and i don’t want that being you.” honesty laced her tone as she looked at him, concern clear in her eyes. “i’m scorning you because i care. i don’t want anything happening to you. i couldn’t handle anything happening to you. i bloody care about you so much that it scares me so don’t you dare say that to me.” her tone was sharp, letting him know that she was angry with his assumption. marissa did care about barney more than anyone else. seeing the blood but no wound, she narrowed her eyes with concern. “i get it, okay? i really get it. but, please just be careful, i need you in my life.”
Barney shook his head slightly, he could finally feel his entire body starting to calm down, but that only opened his eyes more to how naive Marissa was currently being. “It wont be, the last person who will get in trouble for something like this will be me, I’m a Salvatore for a start, and I’m a..” He stopped as he nearly spat out that he was a vampire. “I’m a Salvatore, my Dad would never let me get arrested, okay?” He covered quickly, running a hand through his hair as he continued to breath deep, calming himself down. “Well surprisingly Marissa, I’m not a child, and I don’t need to be scorned.” He ignored her saying she cared, this was going too far and too deep, and he wasn’t sure it was a conversation that they should be having when his head was as far away from that area as possibly. “You don’t get it Marissa, that’s the thing, you haven’t got a clue about what’s happened.”
Damon had been keeping his distance, merely keeping an eye on him due to noticing some strange behavior going on with his son. But before he knew it, the brawl broke out. Taking a moment to groan and roll his eyes before splitting them up and pinning his son quickly against a wall. “Y’know, I would say that was pretty awesome to see you do– but I have a feeling that could get me into some trouble with your mother.” Sighing, he tended quickly to the man on the floor, making him leave and forget the little scuffle. “You can’t just go around doing that to any random joe that pisses you off.”
He should have known that the person to pull him away from a fight would have been his Dad, he smirked slightly as he told him it was awesome but it was soon wiped off at the sound of his Mother getting brought up. Watching as his Father made quick work of getting the other party to disappear he folded his arms across his chest and pushed himself further against the wall. “It’s hardly like I get in a fight every single time I go out, Dad.” He was a relatively level headed kid, he always had been, maybe now he’d transitioned that was going to be different.
Elena knew she wasn’t strong, but she worked out and had some training. Seeing what happened she pulled him away and pushed him on the wall, “What the hell is that supposed to mean Barney? How did he deserve this?” She questioned gesturing to his body on the ground.
Once the rage cleared he finally saw who had pulled him away from the fight, his Mother, sighing heavily he looked at the ground, and all of a sudden felt like he was a toddler being scorned again. “He just did, okay? He said something about rehab.” His short stay had triggered his vampire gene and he was disappointed in himself.
Hope hadn’t planned on breaking up a fight that evening, but seeing Barney go crazy like that… Well she just had to help him. Pulling him off of the other man, she held him against the wall, waiting for him to calm down. “So he deserved to die for being a dick? You nearly beat him to death,” she pointed out, leaning down to check on the other man.
Seeing Hope, Barney shook his head, she shouldn’t have been pulling him off another person like that, their relationship had always been him looking after her, not the other way round. “Unfortunately he isn’t dead though is he.” He replied, not thinking about what he’d actually said to her, watching as Hope went to check on the other man he shook his head before quickly looking away.
“Did he really?” She asked. The last thing Farrah had expected when leaving the house tonight was having to break up fight between her brother and another guy, yet here she was. “What the hell is up with you Barney?”
“Yes really.” He defended himself, his sister would never understand, she was still human, and disappointing her in what he’d done in rehab was the last thing he wanted. “Nothing is up with me, we can’t all be perfect like you, Farrah!” Barney snapped, moving his sisters hand off his chest as he looked away from her.
Skyler yanked and pushed the boy up against the building, her eyes yellow but veins down her face. “What do you mean he deserved..” She could smell the blood which made her hungry, “..deserved it.”
Jesus she was strong for a tiny little human, rolling his eyes slightly Barney took a deep breath and eyeballed the male on the ground. “He made a dig about rehab.” He nearly didn’t notice her pause in words. “Are you okay?” He asked quickly.
Arielle stood there for a moment, pursing her lips and taking in his words. “And this judgy little look bothers you because? It’s my job to judge you in a tough love type of way.” She replied, rolling her eyes as she released him from the wall and heaved a sigh. “Whatever, Barnacle. You’re probably right in that he deserved it. Besides, what do I care? Go fight crazy. Kill a bunch of people. Doesn’t really make a difference to me. Just try not to mess up that pretty face, yeah?”
Barney furrowed his brow as she continued to speak, that had always been the way they’d acted, tough love from every angle. “You shouldn’t judge, you should be on my side.” Not that that would ever happen if he knew Arielle as well as he thought he did. “He did deserve it, surprisingly I don’t go around punching people just because I feel like it.” He defended himself but he had a feeling he was falling on deaf ears. “This pretty face will never get messed up, don’t you worry about that.”
Nicola didn’t stop to understand what was happening, all she did was try to split the fight. She grabbed one of the guys’ shirt and pinned him against the wall. She recognized the face, she was surprised. Nicola let go of him and hits his chest. “What the hell?” She asked, confused. “Are you alright?”
Looking to see Nicola, Barney shook his head and then furrowed his brow when she hit him in the chest. “What the hell was that for you crazy woman?” He asked, glaring at her before shrugging. “I am fine, always am, Nic.”
Arielle had stumbled upon her friend and some unknown individual, shaking her head in disappointment. She had taken hold of the male, pushing him up against the world and looking at him with a sigh. “Oh, really? What exactly happened to deem him deserving of this?”
He could see Arielle’s look of disappointment a mile off, folding his arms across his chest and leaning heavy against the wall he rolled his eyes slightly as she interrogated him. “Does it really matter? Because I’m sure you’ll still have that judgy little look written all over your face afterwards.”
“not to that extent, i mean, that was horrible to see.” the shock was clear in her tone as she spoke, her eyes showing her horror at the way he didn’t seem to care about it. this wasn’t something she was used to, having to get answers out of barney for something that was almost childish. something she wasn’t used to seeing from him, that was more the issue for her than anything else. that it was him. “i really don’t care a lot more about the guy on the floor. i care that he could be seriously injured and you’ll get into trouble. i really bloody care about you so don’t pull that crap on me, barnaby salvatore, because i know that you know i care about you.” marissa couldn’t believe him, couldn’t even accept that he’d say something like that to her. “well, if it wasn’t your fault, tell me what happened.”
Barney rolled his eyes, it was Mystic Falls, fights were a given. “Don’t act as if you’ve never seen a fight.” He could understand that Marissa had never seen him fight, but he was definitely not the only person to fight around the place they called home, and well if he was, then she had definitely seen it in films and on TV. “Does anyone ever get into trouble in this town?” He asked with a laugh. “If you cared about me that much you wouldn’t be trying to scorn me, but here we are.” His voice was laced with annoyance and anger, and his eyes trained on the male on the floor as he started to finally get up. Barney wiped his mouth, still tasting the now dry blood on his mouth from where his lip and been previously split. “He made a dig about rehab.” The male snapped, his eyes back on Marissa.
"That side of your bed is still mine."
a hella long list of random lyric sentence starters (pt. 12)
a blush made it’s way across her cheeks as she looked at him. that was unexpected, something marissa wasn’t quite sure how to answer. it was a new thing for her to be told by someone, especially barney. “that’s not all true.” she tried to think up a quick lie, hoping her face didn’t give it away to him. “you’re just the only person to have slept there. you know, i don’t always invite men into my bed. you’re an exception to that rule of mine.” it was part truth and part lie. she just didn’t want anyone else sleeping there anymore, not after he did.
