A Special Kind of Restlessness

When you see the world as it is, when you always have, and you know it’s too late.

When it seems all too clear that everything is going downhill faster than ever before, and our lives might be radically different in few years’ time, or quite possibly over.

When, as much as you tell yourself you’re just being pessimistic, the greater part of you believes it’s realism instead.

When you can’t really talk about this to anyone you know, because it’s a realm filled with triggers that very few are immune to. Or because it would only come across as pretentious, to constantly bear a concern about the end of the world as it is over the day-to-day things.

It’s a special kind of restlessness, of existential doubt, of eagerness to be proven wrong; being right would be catastrophic. And yet, there’s no one there to tell me it’s nonsense.
