“If you were paying attention the first time, I wouldn’t have to repeat myself, now would I?”
“Perhaps i wasn’t paying attention on purpose”
missmolly:
“Are these trick glasses? I don’t see Peeves anywhere…” Molly inquired as she scanned the corridor. Supposedly these glasses would allow her to see the invisible.
“No, perhaps you are too much of an imbecile to appreciate the real world”
The one thing she’d never had any fear about was not having space for Barty, for Sessy would always make space for him, always have time for him. They’d spent their entire lives as the best of friends, and they’d spend the rest the same way. There wasn’t a single person who could tell her differently, for she always got her way in the end. Always.
Her eyes flicked to follow the progress of his hand through his strands, and she had to remind herself not to sigh, even as her own hand did the same, fingers ghosting through his hair at the nape of his neck as she watched him and listened. Laughing softly with a nod at his description of Lucius, Sestiva knew that he was right. One thing Lucius Malfoy wasn’t was a murderer. He’d kill if he had to, sure, anyone would. But not in the same way that Barty would. Not with glee in his heart and smile in his dark eyes. The same way she would if she was given the opportunity. Though rarely would she do it with her own hands, though her mother was most definitely the exception.
Thought so f leaving the school were bitter sweet, for she knew that leaving would mean going home, and she also knew that Barty had never felt the castle was home. Not like she did. Even if he understood it, he never could completely. It was still nice to see how much he looked forward to it, for his face lit up with the expectations of what that freedom would bring him. Pursing her lips as her question pulled him from his thoughts, Sessy laughed softly, though the sound faded rather abruptly when he stated that negotiations had obviously started. Who would he be betrothed to? Would she be good enough for him? Could she even handle him?
Forcing her smile back a little bit, she sighed and shifted, curling her legs beneath her so she could lean against his side, head on his shoulder as she hugged his arm to her chest, eyes on the flames. “Let us just stay in this moment right here forever, okay? Make it loop for me, Barty.”
More often that not, Barty refused to allow his mind to travel to thinking about life beyond Hogwarts. In some ways he would be relieved, in fact for the most part he would be absolutely enthralled, but then he would always remind himself that literally everything would change, even the few things he had grown to like and appreciate about his school days. His morning routine, meeting Sestiva shortly after to sit for breakfast and going off to their lessons after. It wasn’t until recently that he had really noticed how much of his life included her, even when they were home for the holidays they were never far from the other, and even if they were, always stayed in touch. But a part of Barty feared the day that the two would leave Hogwarts for good, when they both would have to start their own families. And for him at least, his marriage was not likely to be a happy one, as he would always compare whomever his future bride to be was, with the only one he really felt love for.
Turning his gaze back to Ses from the fire, his eyes uncontrollably softened as he felt the familiar sensation of her nails against the back of his neck, an action which had never failed to soothe him. “I think that my mother wants to meet me soon, to talk about my future marriage” Pulling a slight face at the notion, he couldn’t help but to roll his eyes. Hiding fairly well how truly bothered by the whole ordeal he was. “I never wanted to be somebody’s husband” That wasn’t entirely true, he wanted to be somebody’s husband, but hell was more likely to freeze over before he ever told her that.
Instinctively, his hand fell into her long hair, as she moved closer to him. A small smile appeared on his lips as he heard her speak. “Well, i think that if i were to loop a moment of my life for eternity, i would not choose a moment that went by in Hogwarts” ....But would not object to a moment if it was you. He stopped himself from saying.
“you’re an idiot.”
“I think the only evidence you have to support that statement is that i’am standing here listening to you speak”
“You weren’t even listening were you?”
“Not particularly, but if you are going to repeat yourself, i might have to walk away”
“And your point is?”

@miss-sestiva-grant
Though trip home had been tame, by the standards of her mother, it had been draining in so many ways, and she felt like a fire running on nothing but glowing coals. Everything there was a reminder of a past she chose to fervently forget when she was at school. Even during usual breaks back home, it took her time to get back to her usual self, and no one saw that like Barty, but this time was different. Somehow more draining, even without the bruises that she had to charm away or cover. The death of her father had hurt, even though they’d never been what most would consider close. He’d always been kind to her, though stern. Compared to her mother, though, he’d been practically a saint.
The thought of betrothal was an interesting one, for though Sestiva had many suitors at school, she was the picky sort, and it’s not as if she was dumb enough to get too close to anyone, knowing how it would end. Once her parents chose her husband, any relationship she had would end. It was just one thing on a long list of reasons why she and Barty would never work outside of being friends. It was hard not to stare at him, though, as he stared off into the fire, letting her study a profile and jaw line that she knew so well that she could picture him perfectly even with her eyes closed. There was no detail on his face that she did not know as well as her own.
Blinking away as he turned back to her to speak, Sestiva rolled her eyes playfully at him, and shook her head. “I know, but some things I have to do on my own. Like this.” Not that her mother would have argued about him coming, she just.. couldn’t have him there to see her as vulnerable as that. Not even Barty, especially when she didn’t even want to see herself like that. Resting her elbow on his shoulder, so she could comfortably bring her drink to her lips, she fell to studying him once more, that forbidden impulse resting below the surface once more. To just.. kiss him. They would be perfect, if only he didn’t look at her like family. His best friend. Oh the pranks of the heart. “I want to do it. You and Lucius should come, for sure. But.. I want to be the one who actually..does it.” Voice a whisper, eyes locked on his face, the colour of them almost seemed to go dark as her expression clouded over in the same way that was so familiar on his face. “Speaking of your father.. Has he been mentioning betrothals yet?”
He only nodded in response, as his gaze continuing to look into the flames of the fire. He didn’t especially want her to go by herself, but by now he knew better than to argue with her. A small, involuntary smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he turned his head to take in her face once more. “Well, you know i’ll be here if you need me” He simply said before relaxing into the plush armchair once again. Always, he stopped himself from adding. In the truest sense of the word, he knew that he would always be there for her, for as long as she needed him to be. It wasn’t something that he liked to contemplate often, but sometimes he imagined what her life would be like in a couple of years time, a life that had no space for him. A life where she would be wed to someone whom she loved completely, someone to hold and someone to confine in, everything that he did for her, but as her husband. He was quite sure that even when he too was married, he would never look at his wife the way that he had always looked at Ses. Everything he felt for her had came so naturally to him over time, and he doubted that he would ever feel that way again, he certainly had no intentions of doing so either. Not when he knew that, that part of his very soul would always and completely only ever belong to one person. The only person who didn’t see him the way that he saw her.
Swallowing the urge to say something, as he often did and ignoring it as successfully as ever, he ran a hand through his hair, a soft sigh leaving his lips. “I would never take that away from you, and i don’t actually think that Lucius quite has murder in his little heart. Many other things i’m sure” Smirking to make clear that he was only partially joking. The darkness had not quite yet seeped from his eyes as they spoke of such a thing so freely. “Oh, i can’t wait to be free from here, to be let loose. You know, it’s actually been extremely difficult for me to behave myself for seven years, even more so when one considers the sort of filth that wander around here with their held high” Barty had, from a young age known precisely where he would end up once leaving the stoney walls of Hogwarts behind, and it could not come faster for him. Being at Hogwarts was like having a tight pair of handcuffs around his wrists, and aside from the prefects, the teachers and everyone else, he also knew that other people were watching him at school for his father. Oh, he could not wait to wipe that look of the man’s face forever.
Momentarily he found himself lost in a familiar part of his mind, where bloody images of the different ways he could end his father flashed before his mind’s eye. Though, upon hearing Sestiva’s next question, he reluctantly returned back to reality. Giving her an ever so slightly exasperated look, he tilted his head. “Do you really think that my father would be in charge of such a thing? Can you even imagine who he would pair me to?” Shivering dramatically, Barty wrinkled his nose in blatant distaste. “No, my mother is the one who will be running that, thank god. But no.... although, she wants me to meet her in the next week or so to talk about it”
There was two Barty’s and each had a distinctive look. There was the Barty the world saw, and her Barty, the two looking like almost completely different young men, because the softening of his features was always so distinct. Nothing ever made her feel more at ease, more at home, than when she’d see that change take over his face, though she never mentioned it, because part of her was sure that it was just in her imagination. That she was seeing what she wanted to, because her heart wanted him to love her how she loved him. Even if that would never happen, it didn’t matter, because as long as she had him, she was happy. She was whole. Even when she was betrothed and had to marry someone other than he, he would always be the first, he would always be the one she ran to, cried to, told everything to. All her secrets, he was the one who knew them. The only one he didn’t know was that he was the one who held her heart. He’d never know, though that pained her a little.
His hands warmed her chilled legs where they rested on him, his touch settling the tension that still lingered in her chest from her time at home, and for what felt like the first time since she’d left the school, she truly relaxed, almost melting to the couch beneath them. “I think I would celebrate if my mother disappeared, for then she would be gone and I would be the lady of Castello Di Ivy. It would mine and she would be a vague and happily forgotten memory.” It was one of her favourite things to picture, to imagine; her life without her mother would be like a dream, even if that dream was made more unattainable, because it included him there, running the estate with her.
A smile crawling across her face at the darkness that had flickered across his countenance, Sessy felt her heart flutter a little as it did every time his eyes darkened like that, and in those moments she always had to fight the urge to take his face in her hands and kiss him. “You know what I mean, Barty. Stood up to her for me. You defend me all the time, so of course that is just a given.” Resting her free hand on his arm as she sipped her drink, her thumb brushed over his skin ever so lightly, the movement as soothing to her as to him. “My mother loves you because you are the perfect pureblood man.” It had been the one thing that gave her hope, because her mother was fond of Barty, always spoke highly of his as a pureblood gentleman, and it always got Sestiva’s hopes up that it would mean that maybe he’d be the one she’d be betrothed to. “I’d love it if you came. Eventually I’ll have to go, my mother was already talking about betrothals. She talks like she wants a man to run the estate, but I know she’d rather run it herself. I think she just wants to get rid of me, hoping that I will go off to live with whatever husband she chooses for me.”
Although many would think otherwise, Barty hated very few people, he always found it to be too much of an effort to waste such an emotion on people he did not care for. For the most part he tolerated people, but he had always had the same level of hatred for his father as he did for Sestiva’s mother. Of course, it was for two very different reasons, he loathed his father, because he was, in Barty’s eyes, the definition of a waste of space and he despised the fact that, that man was his father. On the other hand he hated Sestiva’s mother for the way that she treated her, and at least to Barty Ses always looked different for a while after meeting with her. Perhaps people who did not know her as well as he would not notice, but he could sense it off of her, even when she tried to hide it from him. From the way that she held herself, to the way that her smile didn’t reach her eyes like it always normally did when she was with him. It angered Barty extremely that one of the only people cared for in the world, had someone in her life that had this effect on her. Not that the woman in question knew how he felt, being an expert in making people fall for his charm he was almost certain that he had her trust. Which was just as well, because he was no in hurry to let her be alone with her daughter, when this was the effect on her.
Turning his head back towards her from the flickering fire, he half smiled. Hushing his inner voice that whispered through his ears that she was beautiful and it wasn’t as if finding a suitor would be difficult. Though, he was in no rush for that inevitable day to happen. Nobody would ever know her quite like he did, of that he was certain. But as ever he suppressed what he was wanting to say or feel right down to his core, it wouldn’t change anything anyway. He would be selfish to say it. “Well, i will come with you, when next you go to see her. You know how i like to keep an eye on you whenever you go home” The smile on his lips threatening to broaden as he gave her a soft nudge, although there was conviction in his words.
Falling silent for a moment, as his gaze fell back to the fire. Once free of Hogwarts he had always imagined that he would rid the earth of his father, for many reasons, not least of all because he was running the Yaxley name into the ground, but because his mother had asked it of him and Barty had every intention. The only person he had divulged that to was his best friend sitting next to him. Lowering his voice, Barty moved closer to Sestiva, very much aware of prying ears. His hues darkened once again and his eyes fell back onto her. “You know, when we are finally free from this god forsaken place and i .....pay my father a visit, it would not be the hardest thing to pay your mother one too”
“i know, the poor little babies. some people just aren’t as moral as you, crouch.”
“Oh the only thing saving them is i actually want to see the world outside of here. Not my morals, or lack of”
Cruel Intentions (1999)
@bartemiuscrouchx
@bartemiuscrouchx
“Right well if that’s the case next time you see him tell him Natasha said he can go fuck himself because I’m quite glad that never happened between me and him.” She snapped picking up her bag and storming past him jealous and annoying. “You’re not as high and might as you claim crouch, you’re no better than the rest of us. Besides at least I have my heart and it’s not in possession of someone who doesn’t give a fuck that you’re obviously in love with her.” She scoffed at him
Turning on his heel as his gaze followed Natasha towards the door, he could only smirk. It was near impossible to get a rise of the young male, even when someone brought Sestiva into the equation, much less when they had no idea what they were talking about. “I certainly don’t go around letting idiotic, self obsessed people walk all over me just because they showed a hint of interest in me, now that is a true mark of an idiot. With people like you around here i needn’t be high or mighty, just better. And trust me, it’s not hard”
Maybe it was for that reason that the rumours were so easy to quiet and yet so hard to put to bed. They spoke of feeling a bond like siblings, and yet they never quite acted that way. They missed each other too much, always sat too close, spent far too much time together. Not that she cared, because really, she wouldn’t have it any other way. Barty had always been one of the few constants in her life, and by far the largest of them, and nothing anyone would say would ever change that, nor ever come between them. Even if there was a skewed imbalance in their relationship, it was only on her side of things, and had been left completely unspoken since the summer before their second year, and she hadn’t even told Lucius or Ant, and that alone said how big a secret it was to her. There was far too much risk to tell anyone, because if Barty ever found out, it might change their friendship for the worst and that was not something that could happen. Losing Barty would be worse than losing her family. Worse than losing her father.
Putting up zero resistance when he moved her legs, Sessy curled up on the center cushion of the couch, leaving his place open for when he inevitably came back, and instead summoned herself the small emerald green throw blanket off the foot of her dorm bed and to her on the sofa, pulling it across her legs. Making a face at the memory of the sort of pug looking Muggle boy, she shook her head. “Please. I like my men dapper and classy.” Like you. Hushing her inner voice, she shifted once more to return her legs onto his lap, resting against the back of the couch, head as well, eyes on his face with a smile as he turned to look at her.
The expression was short lived, though, for though she didn’t shut down, as she might with the others, with him, she knew he knew already. He’d always seemed to be able to see past all but the deepest of her walls. “I am… tired. Being around my mother for so long.. she was not even sad. All the attention.. she was practically glowing. At least she was too busy to pay much attention to me.” Still, she hadn’t cried, it would have been unseemly, and probably have ended with her locked away in the punishment chest for a couple of hours. “I just… He was the only one who stood up to her in my defense… even if it was rarely.”
Feeling the first of her tears prick at her eyes, it actually took a minute for her to force them back, reaching down for her drink and shooting the entirety of it back, before filling another and taking that as well. “I am fine.. I just hate being home. That is all.”
Barty had always been very aware of how his entire demeanor would change whenever he was in the company of Ses. It was never lost on him, and he could actually feel the softening of his usually hardened features. Joint with the fact that he never felt empathy or anything close to that for a single other soul that came near him, it was although that part of him was only ever reserved for one person. Sometimes that scared him more than anything else ever could, especially when the whispering in the back of his head told him that it would all go to waste one day when she found someone to be with.
Looking over to where she lay, he gaze fell easily onto her eyes, and the softening of his own had not left. “Well, you know by now, that you can tell me anything, if you need to” He said softly, letting his hands fall onto her legs that lay comfortably on his lap. Laying back onto the sofa, his gaze moved to the flickering fire momentarily. “I think that not all people grieve, i certainly would not if my father were to.... conveniently disappear. Although i possibly would feel something akin to sadness if something were to happen to my mother” Never in his life had Barty felt what most people would categorize as sadness, sometimes he wondered if he ever would, but certainly Sestiva and his mother were the only two living people he could ever imagine feeling those emotions over.
Realising that a short flicker of darkness had flashed in his hues as he had considered murdering his father, he looked back round to Ses. “You know that he was never the only one who would defend you, don’t you” Silencing his inner voice that wanted to say that he would never let her mother hurt her ever again. Instead a soft breath emitted from his lungs as he once again relaxed. “Do you ever need to go back there again?” Although, he was afraid of the answer as he was sure she would, to arrange betrothals and the like, he asked anyway. “If you have to, i can accompany you if you wish. I was never much of a fan of your mother, but she always seemed to be fairly welcoming to me, for whatever reason”
