You know its like, rude to ask transrobotic folks what happened to their meatbody, right? Like, that is super inappropriate.
I find the invalidation of fictionkin in some parts of the otherkin community to be wild.
At least in the otherkin subreddit, I have read comments saying they are skeptical towards fictionkin, fictionkin of certain characters (such as Toothless and not just a night fury) are invalid, and that they are not legit because they are not “earthen animals” like therians or “connected to myths and folklore” (yes, a real comment on the subreddit). And on a poll about whether fictionkin is valid, 112 said they were valid, 73 said they didn’t care too much, 39 said they weren’t big fans, and 59 said that they “ARE FAKERS AND IN NO WAY VALID.”
It’s absolutely wild because some of the first pioneers of the modern otherkin group were elves. Tolkien elves. There were two notable groups: the Elf Queen’s Daughters, and the Silver Elves. And then according to House Of Chimera’s Fictionkin Timeline, in 1979, three members of EQD had realized that they were hobbits, which is a FICTIONAL RACE.
I just find it super bizarre to go on about how fictionkin are invalid, when fictionkin have literally helped pioneer the modern day otherkin community. Heck, the word “otherkin” was coined in 1990 on the Elfinkind Digest.
I’m gonna be honest it could be any of these at any time.
The mutual forehead touch, or "head bonk," emerged in cyborg/robotic/posthuman communities fairly quickly as early high-degree of replacement prosthetics were unable to perform many fine motor movements usually associated with affection. Nearly all head/facial replacements lacked full facial expression motor suites; miniaturization at the time was unable to provide the level of articulation needed for everyday and intimate expressions without causing an "uncanny valley" effect. As a result, most facial expressions were presented via AR overlay, or simply left completely out (or sometimes disabled by the users) in favor of a more natural resting expression.
Because the facial motions required for kissing were usually not possible under the constraints of these systems, many cyberized individuals began to use a mutual forehead touch as a similar symbol of closeness and affection. As the gesture spread through the CRPH community, many users involved in self modification began to install NFC touch points in their foreheads, to allow data to be transmitted during a forehead touch.
Still alive
This blog's been pretty quiet lately.
That isn't because I've stopped being robotkin or anything, just that the process of discovering what that is and how I relate to it has pretty much reached its natural conclusion.
I've got nothing new to add, I can only reiterate what has already been said.
There's been little changes here and there, like how I changed primary fursonas to one that isn't a robot. Arguably a logical change: humans don't tend to have human fursonas, why would robot have a robot fursona?
My "repertoire" as it were has also expanded slightly into experimenting and embracing other synthetic identities, but robot remains prime amongst them.
Maybe I'll expound on one or both of those at some point.
back from the hospital
only reason im telling you this is because on the wristband they gave me they had a pronouns section but instead of just putting down my pronouns there was a barcode you could scan
its just a very funny visual. probably real as fuck for some of you
I can't believe people are calling me out like this. On today of all days, the first day of pride month.
"are you a boy or a girl" i am a computer . hope this helps
robotsona :]
i just idly thought about the idea of a computer downloading sexualities so i made a comic. i thought it was funny but it might not be
one of the best compliments to give to a robot: i bet you can run crysis on high settings
this morning NASA abandoned their mars rover Opportunity (aka Oppy) because it (she) got hit by a storm on Mars and it knocked her camera and wheels out and her last words to the team were “my battery is low and it is getting cold”. I know she’s a machine but I’m devastated. Oppy is the one who discovered water on Mars. RIP oppy ily space baby
they didn’t abandon her!! they tried eight months to reach her!!!! as their last farewell to her yesterday they played her “I’ll be seeing you” by Billie Holiday:
“I’ll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I’ll be looking at the moon
But I’ll be seeing you”
They love her so much and they tried so hard!!!
Oh man, It doesn’t end there.
This isn’t the first song NASA sent Opportunity. They had a playlist:
https://www.space.com/41434-mars-rover-opportunity-wakeup-music-playlist.html?fbclid=IwAR3uL6q4tOmLQTIEhiwYegGc99nv4N01HQKItpCLQiQYIptBOevNN6uIyT8
It’s on Spotify, it’s called “Opportunity, wake up!“
This is what’s great about NASA and it’s what’s great about people. These are world-class engineers. When they sent a rover to another planet they could have easily looked at it as just another scientific tool. But people don’t do that. We can and will get emotionally attached to the most inanimate of objects. We can and will anthropomorphize anything. And frankly Opportunity’s camera mast looks like a little face with eyes and everything, so why not?
So they started calling it her.
They nicknamed her Oppy.
They told her to take a selfie not long ago.
After 15 years of Oppy flipping the double bird to her original 90 day life expectancy, when a planet-spanning dust storm finally knocked her out and she stopped responding to the engineer’s wake-up messages, they started playing music for her.
And after 8 months and almost 1000 unanswered wake-up messages, when it was finally clear that Oppy was never going to wake up, the last thing these world-class NASA engineers did for their little rover on another planet
Was play her a love song
"Guys we are all human🤗🥰❤"
