The NMM on your Nurgle models always looks so weathered, how do you get that beaten and matte finish while also retaining the “metal” look? Because when I’ve done NMM I’ve never quite managed it. For example my Shaman Foulhoof and Pestigor champion, both have NMM steel and gold, but I don’t find it looks particularly dirty.
Have a nice day! Your minis look lovely.
Thanks so much!
So alot of it for me is trial and error, but this is generally how I end up doing it :)
For me, a lot of it for the is using paler colours as the highlights and smoothing the transitions between the dark and light, this helps get across that they're not as shiny as polished metals. This is particularly the case for brass and bronze, although bronze still often retains a richness to it.
An example is this helmet where the ive tried to pick out the highlights in pale colours which are blended down to meet the mid point of the armour, that means it looks like there's less of a drastic shine like you might get if you were doing nmm for polished metals.
The other thing ive found helpful is to work scratches into the highlights which helps suggest that the light is catching at odd angles because of irregular surfaces.
Like the lines painted into this axe give it some additional worn-ness while indicating light. Which means you have to work less hard at adding in dirt or weathering.
Also, i wanna say I love how you've done the cloth on foulhoof. You've captured the light on the fabric folds wonderfully, particularly over the back leg!
Thanks for asking!
A big ol space friend off for a wonder
Everybody fucking look at it's big beautiful orb
going for a worn chipped enamel paint look, only really used a metallic paint marker for the weathering. Gonna try to bust out a search and rescue themed demi-trainer next
This fucks, I love that nasty light green accent for the feet and tubing. Killer work.

Porcupine gives me cuteness aggression. That thang makes me ape out a bit. Love that thang.
Finished off this guy in my Hotel Room. Might keep tweaking him but at least it'll fit more with the rest of my force for Friday

while I am talking to you about something gay and stupid a mosquito lands on my arm and sucks all my blood out in an instant, swelling to the size of a person as my remains flutter cartoonishly down to the ground, and it continues the conversation where I left off in a high pitched approximation of my voice

My copy of Draconis Reach came in!
Yay, I'm so excited to—
The box wasn't damaged at all, so how the fuck did the pages get ripped?
Especially when the guy at Fortress Miniatures & Games says the books were all perfectly fine prior to shipping?

Also demonstrating that i cant make a consistent easier design for zakus or gms. Theyre constantly fluctuating in the fine details. Awesome
If only.
I'm always thinking this. Thank you.

Here's a test model for the Empire. I'm hoping to paint an Empire model for the Olden Demon competition (and possibly a small warband) and wanted to get my scheme right. This model, of course, wouldn't qualify as it was released in 2000, but I have a couple of older ones prepared. The second image shows how I like to develop my color mixes from dark to light on paper rather than directly on the model. As you can see, this one actually started out green and blue.
