dont get me wrong this is #mood but just try eating a piece of bread with salt. please, seriously. ok? at least a tiny bit. salt helps with nausea, bread calms the stomach acid. if you really can’t face eating anything, just lick some salt like a damn elk, then wait and see if you can manage the bread. make some broth if you’re into that kind of thing. no spices, yes salt. if you’re feeling too weak and shaky to do much, just have a cup of tea with sugar (energy) and lemon (again, good against nausea). nibble on the lemon first, it will feel good, but don’t overdo - citric acid on an empty stomach is a majorly bad idea. take care of yourself, you’re the only you we’ve got
I read your Micah defense post (great post by the way, you make some good points). I was wondering if you have any fic recs where Micah is redeemed? I haven’t read many with that premise, and I find myself desperately needing it in my life

Redeeming Micah isn’t a popular theme in fanfiction, so there aren’t too many I can think of. But these are the ones I’ve read where Micah becomes a better person, or is on his way to becoming better (in the ones that are unfinished). Micah doesn’t always become a good person in these, often just showing some redeeming qualities in a still unpleasant man, but if Micah is better than he is in canon, I’ve included it on this list. The tags in individual works should be taken seriously, because some of them feature some triggering material.
Also, I hope it doesn’t look self-centered of me, but I’ve added some of my own fics at the end, only because, like I said, it’s quite hard to find Micah redemption fics.

Author’s Summary: What if there was more to Micah, just like Dutch said? What if the rat ended up being someone else, someone Arthur never expected? After Arthur saves Micah from prison, he begins to notice a bit of a change in behavior. Still a pain in the ass, but no longer detestable as he once was. Not a good man, perhaps, but a man with some good inside him. Someone constantly at war with his demons. A collection of Micah Bell snippets that spans through the story.
My notes: This fic explores a change in Micah’s behavior after the mission Blessed are the Meek? where he slowly shows the gang a few redeeming qualities. (Gen, Mature, Unfinished)

Author’s Summary: Micah leans back for a straight razor shave as Arthur has the time to give the camp a good shave clinic the entire day at Horseshoe Overlook. Micah may need a little more than a shave. A shoulder to lean on was needed.
My Notes: When Arthur gives Micah a shave, Micah is so touch-starved that he shows a vulnerable side. A heartbreaking mental breakdown later, comforted by Arthur all the while, he expresses a fear of becoming his father, and decides to take the awkward path towards bettering himself. Author’s Summary: Micah got Arthur away from Dutch and the law, but things aren’t any better.
My Notes: This is one of the ones where Micah still isn’t a ‘good’ man, but he never ratted out the gang, and he helped a very sick Arthur get away from Dutch. Arthur brings out Micah’s soft side, but after Arthur passes away, Micah falls into a spiral of depression and awful coping mechanisms. This one happens to be one of my all-time favorite Micah whump fics, and, if the tags aren’t enough, there is no happy ending. (Morbell, Mature, Complete)

My Notes: This is a very sweet fic where Micah shows Arthur his softer side, and the two gradually grow closer. It’s a slow burn Morbell fic where Micah gradually learns it’s okay to be vulnerable, and Arthur grows to trust him. (Morbell, Mature, Unfinished)
Second Chances for the Damned by Your_Friend102.
Author’s Summary: Arthur Morgan died on that cliff, betrayed by his family, with Micah Bell hatefully walking away. Dutch had walked off, not allowing him to kill that rat. The rat who had supposedly sold his family out, and damned them all.
Micah was born to live. Maybe being a survivor is how Micah woke back up, in the middle of a blizzard, approaching Dutch and a pair of hateful eyes beside him. Micah's POV story, and a time-travel Fix-it.
My Notes: After having died, Micah and Arthur both wake up in Colter, sent back in time for some reason. The only two who know what the future holds, they both struggle with knowing what will happen to the gang. Micah tries to redeem himself, not wanting things to end with his pointless death again, whilst Arthur struggles with anger towards Micah, even though, this time around, Micah hasn’t done anything wrong. Love Me: A Micah/Charles fic that’s part of a canon-divergent AU called Rewarding Good Behavior, where Micah and Charles have hate sex, and over the next few weeks, their relationship thaws into awkward friends with benefits, before Charles finds himself sweet on Micah. Love Me is the fic where Micah falls in love with Charles, and he has a breakdown about it. But, after some comfort from Charles, he decides that he wants to keep what they have, and he’ll become a better person to stay with Charles.
Fatherhood ‘Verse: A long, multi-fic series featuring eventual Morbell and Micah discovering he has a child, who the gang take in. Micah’s redemption is slow in this one, and only really begins after he begins to bond with George, his son, but he slowly becomes a good father, and a better man.
