Is it possible for you to do a Frat!Rafe betting with Topper and Kelce on Reader?
THE BET — frat!rafe cameron x pogue!reader
summary : in which you overheard rafe and his friends talking about you as a bet and realized that he had never loved you all this time and only used you for his own needs.
warning : language (english is not my first language), listen to risk it all by bruno mars for better experience :)
three months, it’s been three months since you and rafe finally made things official. everything didn’t come easy at all. first, you had to think it through over and over again. second, being a pogue while he’s the literal definition of a kook. third, the side eyes, the whispers trailing behind you whenever you walked past people together, it was definitely a lot to handle. however he convinced you. slowly, and patiently, he showed you that maybe he wasn’t as bad as everyone said he was. he showered you with compliments, bought you anything your eyes landed on, and the most important thing is that he treated you like you were the only person in the world who mattered to him.
rafe had texted you this morning, asking you to come along with him to one of his friends’ birthday party, and you’d gladly said yes. later, you picked out a really cute outfit to wear, a satin halter top with a high neckline, paired with a skirt rafe had bought you last month. it was definitely a little out of your comfort zone.
after spending hours getting ready, rafe finally pulled up to your house, making you stumble as you made your way to the front door, still trying to slip on your heels. when you opened the door, you were met with his tall figure standing right in front of you, even from where you stood, you could already catch the faint scent of his cologne.
“hey, baby.” you smiled softly, your eyes lifting to meet his blue ones, the corners of your lips tugging up without even trying. you pushed yourself up onto your tiptoes, your arms slipping around his neck naturally, fingers brushing lightly against the nape of it.
he didn’t hesitate, his hands already on your waist, pulling you closer like it was natural, steadying you as your heels wobbled slightly against the floor. you let out a small chuckle before leaning in, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
when you pulled back just a little, you stayed close, your nose barely brushing his. “you look…wow.” a small, breathy giggle slipped out of your lips at his words, your eyes flickering over his face, taking him in like you hadn’t seen him for days. you dropped your gaze to your outfit, smoothing your hands over the fabric. “these are the things you got me,” you said, a hint of shy pride in your voice, like you still weren’t fully used to his spoiling habit. his grip on your waist tightened just slightly, thumbs brushing against the fabric of your top.
“i know, you look beautiful, baby,” he murmured, his gaze dragging over you in a way that made your heart skip, the one that made you fall in love with him in the first place, “m’ glad you like it.”
his hand slid down to take yours, fingers lacing together as he gave you a small tug toward him. “now c’mon, sweet girl” he added, a faint smirk playing on his lips, “we’ve gotta get going.”
the drive to the party was filled with a comfortable silence, his hand holding yours while the other stayed on the steering wheel. you both talked a little about your day, nothing serious, just what the two of you did this morning and easy conversation that didn’t need much effort. every now and then, he’d squeeze your hand or glance over at you, a small smile on his lips as the music played quietly in the background.
soon, the sound of the party started to fill the air, bass thumping faintly as you pulled up to the house. he parked the car and turned off the engine, the silence settling again for a brief second.
“we’re here,” he said softly.
you nodded, letting go of his hand as you both stepped out.
once you stepped inside the house, the music hit you loud, you watched as topper and kelce walked over to rafe dabbing him up. you took that as a sign for you to drift away, weaving through the crowd until you grabbed a red cup from the kitchen counter, taking a small sip as you wandered. and that’s when you spotted her, sarah cameron.
“sarah!” you squealed, your face lighting up as you hurried over to her.
“my gosh, hi!” sarah said, pulling you into a warm hug. “i didn’t think i’d see you here,” she added, leaning back to look at you, her smile soft but a little surprised.
“i know, right?” you laughed quietly. “rafe wanted me to come with him, so i did.” you shrugged a little, glancing around at the crowded room before looking back at her. “i wasn’t even sure if i’d know anyone else.”
“i know,” you said, nodding. “everything’s just been so… busy lately.”
after what felt like hours of talking about everything and nothing, you excused yourself to go check up on rafe. you made your way over to the balcony, a small smile still resting on your lips, already missing him a little. you were sure he, topper, and kelce were out there. as you got closer, you heard your name being mentioned, which made you slow down, your steps faltering just slightly.
“it’s been three months already, dude,” one of them said. “the bet was only for two months. you’re fucking in love with her.”
the what? you paused, your heart sinking just a little.
“no, i’m not,” rafe replied quickly, almost too quickly. “she was already into me and basically in my pants. besides, the pussy’s good, so that’s a win.”
the words sat heavy in your chest, the kind that lingered longer than they should have. it hurt, yeah, but not in a way that broke you anymore.
you stayed there for a second, just letting it sink in, before letting out a shaky breath and decided to leave.
just as you were about to turn around and leave, your elbow accidentally knocked into a vase sitting on a small table beside you. and the moment the vase hit the floor, time seemed to slow down for a second.
the sound cut through the music, loud enough to draw attention and make the three of them turn around to where the sound came from.
you froze.
slowly, you lifted your gaze, your heart suddenly pounding in your chest as all three of them turned toward you. the conversation died instantly, the air shifting in a way that felt heavy and tense.
topper’s eyes widened slightly, his posture immediately stiffening as he looked between you and rafe. “shit…” he muttered under his breath, loud enough for you to hear.
and rafe, he was already staring at you.
for a moment, no one said anything. the broken pieces of the vase lay scattered at your feet, but you almost didn’t noticed. all you could feel was the weight of being seen and the lump on your throat.
rafe stood up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor as he rushed over to where you were standing, he called out your name like it would somehow fix things, but you couldn’t care less anymore. your chest tightened painfully, and before he could reach you, you turned away and started walking away from where you were standing, your steps were quick and unsteady as tears blurred your vision.
you hadn’t even made it a few steps before you heard him behind you, his footsteps hurried and not even as he chased after you.
“wait, please let me explain–” his voice cracked, closer now, he sounded desperate, really desperate, but you only walked faster, wiping at your cheeks even though more tears kept falling.
he caught up anyway, his hand reaching for your wrist, stopping you mid-step. “please, just listen to me,” he said, breathless, his grip gentle but firm, like he was scared you’d disappear if he let go. you didn’t turn around, your shoulders tense, your heart pounding as his presence lingered right behind you,
you let out a shaky breath, pulling your wrist free as you finally turned to face him, your eyes glossy and filled with hurt. “listen to what, rafe?” your voice wavered, barely holding together. “i should’ve known better.”
he froze at your words, his expression faltering as guilt flickered across his face, but for the first time, you didn’t wait for him to explain, you couldn’t. you were already on the verge of breaking, and you weren’t sure whatever came out of his mouth could fix it.
“how much do i cost to you?”
you let out a bitter laugh, shaking your head as more tears slipped down your cheeks. “no, seriously,” you continued, your voice cracking, “how much was i worth? was it funny to you? using me like that, like i was just some stupid bet?”
he opened his mouth, but no words came out, guilt written all over his face as the weight of your question finally hit him.
“i deserve better than this. we’re done.”
your tone was final in a way that left no room for argument and space for him to try and fix what he had already broken. without waiting for a response, you turned around and walked away, each step felt heavier than the last, like your body was carrying the weight of everything he had just destroyed.
your heart ached painfully in your chest, this was the man you knew you loved. the one you woke up next to on quiet mornings, tangled in sheets and half-asleep laughter, the one who held you like you meant something to him.
and now, all of it felt like a lie.
every soft “i love you,” every soft touch, every moment you held close to your heart, it played back in your mind like something unreal. to you, it had been everything. but to him, it was nothing more than a bet.
your vision blurred again as tears slipped down your cheeks, but you didn’t stop walking. you couldn’t. because if you did, you were afraid you’d turn back to him.
you wouldn’t let yourself get hurt again, not with a man like rafe cameron.
