Musica indie made in Australia, scintillante come una giostra di suoni pop, oscura come una favola gotica. Si chiamano Bears & Dolls, arrivano dalla città di Perth e l’immagine del gruppo è un disegno veloce a pastello, un testa d’orso con una piccola figura femminile tra le fauci. La voce eterea di Brooke Wilkie, impastata di candore e di miele, è già un manifesto della band, in accordo perfetto con il rapido statement: “Se Alice di Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie avesse un band, suonerebbe come Bears & Dolls”. Nell’intreccio di rock, folk, sogni, spettri, melodie e romanticherie, i sei elementi costruiscono docili racconti non convenzionali per voci, chitarre, basso, violini e batteria. Mondi evanescenti, giocati fra tenerezza ed allucinazione, luminosi quanto basta, appena malinconici.
