@beckettjaymes
space shit is cancelled until we solve homelessness and poverty
I mean, the military budget of the USA is around 824.6 billion.Ā
NASAās budget is only 18-19 billion
Itās estimated that to end extreme poverty would take 175 billion dollars
Clearly, itās space stuff thatās taking up all money that could otherwise go to help people.Ā
We canāt cut the space budget. We need it to launch the billionaires into the sun
At its peak, funding NASA returned 8 dollars to the economy for every dollar it was given and singlehandedly advanced technology by decades. The money doesnāt get launched into space: all the benefits stay here.
Fuck thisĀ āCut science and art because poor people exist!ā bullshit.Ā Make fucking rich people pay their damned taxes.Ā That *ALONE* solves the vast majority of the problems.Ā Make employers hire more people, not keep condensing job duties into more and more single positions (some of us are getting sick of doing the work of three people on barely the salary for one of them).Ā Demand pay rates increase so that EVERYONE with a job makes enough to support themselves.Ā Demand better health care, so that people donāt lose their homes and jobs because someone in their family got fucking cancer, or chronic illness, or severe injury.Ā Ā Science isnāt the problem.Ā The problem is capitalism and greed.
I may have grown a little TOO comfortable in using my āi just had surgeryā card
8 years old. College reading level. The weight of the world on my shoulders.
20 years old. illiterate. the weight of the universe has given me chronic back pain
Iām obsessed with these pictures of the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders wearing their real world professional work attire as their cheer uniforms
Same place, different day.
Awesome color study
fantasy adventure genre vs survival horror genre
Vaccinate your kids folks
Iām not about to get sick and die because you think juniper leaf with organic honey will protect you from Polio
is it bad i assumed juniper leaf was the name of the kid
IM SCREAMING
YA novel: what if you were sorted into an arbitrary category at birth and that defined your entire life and you were harshly punished for trying to break out of it
me in like 8th grade: wow this is really compelling and relatable for me.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā and theres no possible reason why
^ From a therapist-friend, in case any in-therapy-friends ever worry about this.Ā
BISEXUALITY ATTRACTION
so many people asume that bisexuality works like this:
but it differs from person to personĀ
for me it is more like this:
or some days this:
for some people it works like this:
or
it just depends on them and their feelings
some times people are more attracted to one gender rather than the other, that does not make them any less of a bisexual
Reblogging this for any bi followers
Thank you. Sometimes it feels like because Iām more attracted to boys than I am girls, I lose bisexual āpointsā with other queer folks and itās really frustrating. Just because someone else who is bi happens to have a preference for girls doesnāt make them more valid than me.
Iāve always been more attracted to girls, but Iām dating a guy now and I constantly have to remind myself that it doesnāt make me less queer. Internalized biphobia is a hell of a thing.
this post came into my house, took me by the ankles and swung me into every available surface
teaching children that they are allowed to walk away and cool off if they are feeling overwhelmed might literally save their life as teens/adults
I am a preschool teacher.
This is my āalone zone.ā
At any time of the day, if my kids are feeling stressed, they can go here to cool down. Thereās stress toys, silly putty, bubbles, sensory bottlesā¦thereās books and headphones to block out the loud noises.
The only thing they have to do is ācheck inā by putting their picture on which emotion theyāre feeling so I know how I can help them when theyāre ready.
Kids. Need. Space.
Kids. Need. Coping. Mechanisms.
Not. Time-outs.
And the sooner we as adults teach them that, the better off theyāll be as they grow.
My brother became a teacher because of the ones he had who offered safe spaces and taught him how to calm down when he was struggling hard with ADHD and dyslexia.
