My little silly fic from last year's winter exchange if you'd like something to read for the holidays!

Due to an error on a rental website, Eddie and Steve are both booked for the same two weeks in a quaint, remote mountain cabin. Eddie is there to find inspiration for the last installment of his book series. Steve is there to get away from the pressures of a job he hates and his parent’s unwanted attention. The owner, Joyce, ends up convincing them to share the cabin for a discounted price and they decide that it wouldn't be too much of a hardship to share. After all, why should they waste their vacation? It's big enough that they won't even notice the other is there, right? Wrong.

“Also! Also did I tell you that Eddie brought in homemade tamales for us yesterday? He said his grandmother made them. But I bet he’s trying to suck up to Cap because he likes to cook, and he mentioned that he loves Mexican food. But you know, Maddie— you know that I bet he doesn’t even have a grandmother. I bet he just bought them from someone on the side of the road. He’s just— Ehh! You don’t even understand how awful he is. I hate him,” Buck rants.

Maddie takes a bite of her Eggs Benedict and frowns. “You did tell me that. You also said that the tamales were good. You also have told me a story about Eddie Diaz every day since you started at the firehouse. Are there other people who work there?”

Buck waves her off.

Initially meeting at the Fire Academy, Eddie and Buck start off as rivals. Slowly, their relationship develops into more.
