Armand is more insane than Lestat actually if we deep it. Lestat is insane but he puts it all out there whereas like. Armand spends months directing a play to kill his boyfriend then when his boyfriend isn’t killed he just goes. Neat, I can work with this. Saves him from starvation with blood. i like in 11.04 that sam says "out in the backseat of my brother's '67 chevy" because ofc it's dean's car to him. and then he says "we are home" because ofc his home isn't his own, it's dean's. and earlier he had a vision of lucifer pretending to be his father and he's still in the passenger seat while lucifer!john drives because of course he's a passenger in lucifer's crafted vision and he's unsurprised by being a passenger even in his own mind. and then lucifer!john says "looks like he's taking good care of this beast. looks like he's taking good care of you, too" because sam is the car. do we get it

on that note I wish we wouldn’t discuss “accidental homoeroticism” in those terms lol. I feel like it erases the audience as a fixture in this fiction formula. yes the original writers are obviously treating platonic bonds btwn male characters differently than romantic bonds btwn male characters and the female characters written expressly to be their love interests or their dead wives. it is almost always the fan writers who are elevating the former relationships above the latter relationships because they are not interested in the female characters even in the limited roles that the original writers granted them.

supernatural is not treating the platonic relationship btwn e.g. dean and cas as more important/more valuable*/more meaningful than the romantic relationship btwn dean and lisa in s6, that is all the fans’ doing. now if you want to talk about samndean’s Brotherly Bond vs each of the brother’s relationships with women that is a narrative nightmare and a fandom nightmare of its own. but my point is fandom loves to read epic life-changing romances into nothing relationships btwn male characters because they are no better than the writers of these tv shows; they are in fact often worse.
