I like how Sylvando is a subversion of the "evil, effeminate queer jester man who is also a creep" trope When, years ago, i first encountered him i was really prepared for this trope (since i've seen it a lot in medias and squeenix is not above falling in such tropes), but then no, Sylvando literaly canonically woke up this morning with the intent of making people happy. He is not even morally grey about it he is just. A literal clown, who does tricks to make people smile and he joined us because he decided that big bad dude who is killing people is not very "happy vibes" and deserves an ass kicking. He is cunning, but for good use.

Thinking about how Jasper’s entire existence is an unavoidable tragedy.

He’s gaslit and manipulated for 16 years, distanced from his only friend in the world by a guy wearing the face of his King/father figure.

When you go back in time to undo all the death and destruction Mordegon caused, Jasper immediately carks it again and his restless spirit makes the journey from the world tree all the way to Heliodor because That’s His Home and…yeah. Legit tragedy from start to finish. A story that was never going to turn out well.

Villains like him can’t be redeemed - oh, except Mordegon. Who did far worse. He gets a redemption arc because he feels So Bad About It.
