Two very beautiful brides ♥
Can't wait for Jenny and Sarah's wedding!
Favor Idea...
I got really excited when I saw a cropped version of this…
http://www.minted.com/customizer/sku/MIN-M16-STD
Believing it was an actual matchbox, I was disappointed to find it was only an image on a ‘Save the Date’ card. However, I don’t see why you couldn’t have some favors custom-made by a company such as this Canadian one:
http://www.atlasmatch.com/revonwhite
You would just have to search around to find the right one for you.
These matchbooks are available from a number of retailers, but I don’t like them as much, and they are considerably more expensive than getting them commercially printed where each unit is a fraction of the price. Even if a minimum bulk order is larger than you need, at least you won’t have to buy matches for a while!
http://www.favorwarehouse.com/xEB2124/ There are however a range of colours (see under the ‘Photo’ tab) which might appeal.
That got me thinking… if you are giving guests matches, then why not a candle. My first choice would be the “Apple of my Eye” candles because they are just so darn adorable!

Perhaps your Something Blue…
Only $4.00 USD from http://www.etsy.com/shop/littlepinkplum?ref=top_trail
Cool pose! I love the guest reactions in the background.

"The world has turned to meet us"
Roy/Hayley from the British soap Coronation Street…
They are a very popular couple on “The Street” who have been happy together for years, but were unable to marry until recently as Hayley used to be Harold. It is only since the law changed in 2004, allowing transgendered people to alter their birth certificates and marry (legislation which passed prior to the same-sex civil partnership laws in 2005) that these characters could be joined together for better or worse… Roy makes a beautiful speech which will hopefully inspire any non-heterosexual partners struggling to find the right words. I am straight, but strongly believe in gay-marriage. I believe that everyone should have the right to openly express their love in a marriage service (or civil partnership, or whatever you want to call it).
Ok - maybe one more for the Harry Potter theme train... but also just a beautiful decor idea to transform a venue with suspended "floating" candles.
While we're on the subject of Harry Potter...
I found these rings on http://geekweddingguide.com - and they reminded me of the enchanted Galleons Hermione charms for the D.A.
Essentially they heat up every hour, on the hour, the day before the date you never want to forget.
Harry Potter Theme!?!
As much as I love Harry Potter, I think having the theme for my wedding would be a little much, unless I had met my fiancé because of the book like at least one of the couples featured in this fabulous, photo-filled article:
http://bridalguide.com/blogs/bridal-buzz/harry-potter-theme-weddings - all photos included in this feature are from this source - there are even more in the article itself.
Even then, I feel as if too few of my friends know enough about the world of Harry Potter to really invest in the spirit of the day and appreciate it fully. The joy I might feel in the theme would soon wear off if I had to explain why I had whispered "mischief managed" to my new-husband as we walked up the isle, what Felix Felicis is, or prevent them from feeling silly if they were to raise their wands in a toast. On the other-hand having to justify why I'd placed particular friends who are fans in Slytherin not Gryffindor would have a similarly deflating effect.
There are aspects that I would love to take from these weddings however... and the fact that I would know their magical source would add a little something to the day. The Bride and the Groom could drink a little bottle of Felix Felicis privately just for the fun of it, or it would make a lovely gift to send your HP-loving fiancé the night before the wedding.
I also love the idea of getting guests to sign a guest book with quills and different colored inks. The map is a cute idea for a woodland wedding, or one on an estate with paths for the guests to follow. And these invitations are absolutely gorgeous for any wedding! Although I wouldn't have an owl on the seal personally, I do love the idea of using sealing wax.
If I ever have kids, they WILL love Harry Potter or go to an orphanage. I don't know whether the hat in the picture is or not, but I think it would make a great chocolate birthday/hallowe'en cake. And wands, here used as favours, would be a great alternative/addition to the party-bag (albeit a potential hazard for younger children!)
And yet despite my protests, the more I write about this the more my imagination is sparking. Instead of spending hours doing a seating plan (and getting stick for putting guests with people/in houses they don't like/feel are fitting)... why not let the Sorting Hat decide!!!
The bridal party would sit at the equivalent of the staff table, with the others finding their seats at their respective house tables after they've been sorted. You could quite literally pull names out of the Sorting Hat, filling up a house at a time - making sure that you put names in in pairs or small groups so that your guests would know at least one other person they were sat next to!
Having a wedding out-of-doors is a big risk in the UK with our unpredictable weather, but when you see stunning images like these, why wouldn't you want a ceremony in the Forbidden Forest. For us Britons, evoking the Great Hall, or a cosyfamily-wedding at the Burrow for your reception might be a safer bet! And for those who like to use sweets and confectionery as favours or for table decoration, why not raid the shelves of Honeydukes for inspiration...
from Little Venice Cake Company (click-through link)
Apparently these boots have been inspired by the Duchess of Cambridge, formerly known as Kate Middleton, one-day Princess Catherine. They're named after her: 'Catherine Wedding Boots' and are only £49.99, which I think is pretty reasonable as they can be used post-nuptials.
For an opulent wedding where you can afford to spend £110!!! on an umbrella this might just be the one for you. Comes in a range of colours including a dusky rose so you could potentially get one to fit a colour scheme.

I hope when someone finally asks me to marry them, he puts this much thought into it..
