i think it is becoming very clear that having people of color cast in main roles in a project isn’t enough and that having crew, writers, directors, and producers of color is necessary in telling a intentional, thorough, and well-executed story about those characters

struggling to understand why the boys of The Wilds S2 are facing so much hate from the fandom – their stories are interesting, vital, and add so much to the tapestry of the show’s narrative about the terror that is coming-of-age. I love the girls the most and always will but the point of television is narrative and stakes and expansion – besides, I really fucking loved all the girls’ shit this season!!!! We didn’t lose!! We just got even more than we wanted!!! 

I also think the intense hate for the show’s creators bc of all this is weird; assuming the people responsible for a television show you love are your greatest enemy is truly bizarre behavior bc they are the people who spend the most time crafting and thinking about and loving these characters and this story. Extremely off to just assume the worst of them bc of a plot point you didn’t like, when every interview is so thoughtful and every cast member is so clearly and visibly thrilled with their work environment and this season

Nah dude, the boys were just as interesting as the girls this season. The empathy Kirin shows for Josh, the growth Ivan experiences as he tried to be tender, Henry being simultaneously the most nihilistic and the most suited to give survival advice, the way Scotty and Bo are brothers of the heart… they did not fall flat for me. I dont like Raf as a main character as much as i do Leah My Unhinged Beloved, and i do acknowledge some moments were rushed for both groups cuz our attention was split- but that doesnt mean the boy team takes away from the show, that they r annoying or superfluous or just misogynistic plot elements taking away from the girls (frankly, if you believe that, youd work for Gretchen). Personally i am excited for season three, and my only complaints are not knowing more about Nora post-“shark”, Marty’s recovery, or how Seth became The Conspirator. And i feel this will be answered in season 3. Dont tank the shows ratings bcz dudes were present for gretchy’s experiment to prove Men Bad. Just enjoy them proving her wrong, that even her own son would decide to help Leah & Ian take this shit down.
