like he didn't just stroll in and go "yeah okay :) nothing weird or suspicious at all :)" he immediately felt like it was weird, like, he literally says it feels like a place a murderer would hole up

He IS suspicious, he DOES find it weird, he DID catch the malice vibes, and he never at any point SOUNDS sure of the situation because "charlie" isn't replying, it's just silence which is also strange. Like he is 1000% catching all the bad vibes of the situation

it's "DESPERATE"
Last time they spoke, she was chewing him out for having tried to help her, she crushed him so bad. He's always struggled with connecting with her and there's nothing he wants more (other than Lilith coming back) than to connect with his daughter and actually have some sort of relationship with her. He is DEVASTATED rn and all of a sudden, she calls him out of nowhere after a severe blow to their relationship, seemingly not as angry anymore and he just wants to apologize and talk to her
he wants so bad to fix what happened, that he's willing to overlook his instincts, the bad vibes, the weirdness of all of this on the chance that this is what his daughter wants and that it'll fix their relationship. But look at him. He's unsure, he's nervous about this, but he's doing it anyways because he loves Charlie
He is not stupid. He KNOWS this is a weirdass place with serial killer vibes. But he's so desperate to reconnect with Charlie and just get back to any sort of relationship with her that he's ignoring all of it. So yeah, in all his nervousness about the relationship and uncertainty about the place, he steps onto the X
He's trying so hard to not say anything negative about it because he still thinks it's Charlie's but he's struggling because IT'S A WEIRD BAD VIBES SITUATION
Until he receives his confirmation that it's in fact not Charlie, he's willing to give everything a pass and tries to justify all of it for her
genuinely the ONLY reason he fell for this at ALL is because Charlie was angry and upset with him, yelled at him making him absolutely and utterly completely desperate to fix the situation, so much so that he'll jump at any opportunity to do so and ignore all the red flags
Vox got extremely lucky that this happened between them. There's no way Lucifer would have fallen for it if:
Charlie didn't get upset and yell at him and sent him away. If they had been on good terms they would have been talking more and Lucifer wouldn't have been so desperate to overlook red falgs
if they had made up in the meantime, which again, would have lead to more talking, Lucifer being around Charlie (ergo why the hell would she call him like that) and he wouldn't have been desparate to fix things because they patched it over
if they had been talking and/or making up right that second. Vox got lucky they hadnt talked to each other yet. Can you imagine him trying to call Lucifer as charlie WHILE they were talking to each other?
like look, I'm not saying it's impossible to trick lucifer, I'm not. Vox probably could have gotten him in some different way honestly, but unless Lucifer was as desperate as he was in the show, I really don't think it would have been as easy to get him on the X. He's Stupid (affectionate) but he's not STUPIDā¢ļøif you know what I mean?
OH LETS NOT FORGET Lucifer is basically unkillable or at the very least, there's nothing down in hell that can kill him and very few things can even hurt him in any meaningful way. Even IF this place was highly sus, Lucifer went in with the full confidence that even if the situation turned, he'd most likely be okay. Case in point
