No, not really. I've spent my entire life in a battle with forces bigger than myself fighting things that are much stronger than me. You get used to it. And then you learn how to make it everyone else's problem.

Probably, yeah. But ultimately, isn't that human? We love people, even long after they're gone. We keep momentos, revisit memories, and tell stories. Sometimes of people we've never even met. That sounds like love to me.

I don't think I am. I consider myself a simple man with simple pleasures. Other people might disagree, but maybe they are something I don't.

Trevor shook himself out of this thoughts and went back to work turning the ground of the small clearing he'd chosen to bare, level earth. It was hard, physical work, but he was used to that. Building a town took a lot of hard, physical work.

The space was shaping up nicely, though. The irregular clearing hadn't had much more than grass in it to start with, and had already been mostly level. It was the biggest reason he'd chosen it. That and the surprising amount of privacy it offered for it's relative closeness to both the new town and the old Belmont home. No one wanted an audience when they were first learning and tripping over themselves. He wanted to teach the kid, not embarrass him.

It shouldn't take him much longer to get the space ready. And anything else could be set up as needed, if the kid even wanted to learn the fancier things.
