As a dedication to our faveās 37th birthday, here is a story about you the X reader attempting to surprise Ben for his birthday.Ā

It was a quarter past 10 am pacific time and you didnāt get to bed until after 5 am, so you were beyond exhausted.Ā You had been working so much overtime lately, not only because you were so busy, but also because you missed your beau so much.Ā
Today is Benās 37th birthday.Ā Although things were coming along beautifully with the surprise birthday party you were planning for him, you still had a lot of preparations before the big day this coming weekend.
Ben missed you so much since he had been away filming the Punisher season 2 in New York City.Ā You saw each other when you could, at least once a month.Ā Since Ben was busy filming, you were the one traveling back and forth from Los Angeles to New York City more frequently.Ā Luckily, your job was flexible and you were able to work out of the New York office when you visited Ben.Ā Although you loved traveling and spending time with Ben in the big apple, having him come home soon was something that you had been looking forward to for a long time.
Your phone rang and you were a bit surprised to receive a call from Ben, especially since you were planning to face time with him later that afternoon and greet him with birthday wishes.
āHello?āĀ You answer, still lying in bed, extremely exhausted from a long work day.Ā
āHey babe, did I wake you?ā Ben says, taking his ID out of his wallet as he waited in the security line at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York City.
āOh hey love, no, Iām awakeā¦ā¦.aahHHHH.ā You say, letting out a massive yawn.
Ben giggles.Ā
āHow are things?ā
āGood.Ā Iām just a little tired.Ā How are you?ā
Ben smiles as he lines up at the terminal gate.Ā
āIām great.Ā Soā¦I wanted to surprise you, but, Iām horrible with keeping things from you.ā
You smile.
āWell, try to surprise me anyway.ā You say, beaming excitedly.
āIām flying home to see you in a few hours, babe.ā
You sit up in your bed, your eyes wider than a saucer.Ā
āOh my god, really!? You guys wrapped up the Punisher already?ā
āYup, weāre all done.Ā We just wrapped up a few hours ago.ā
āThatās great babe!Ā But, why arenāt you attending the after party?ā
Ben hands his ticket to the gate agent and walks down the bridge to his plane. He really wanted to spend his birthday with you and no one else.
āBecause you arenāt with me.Ā I just want to come home and be with youā¦..(he whispers) Iāve missed you so much.ā
You smile and felt those butterflies in your tummy that Ben always gave you from that sweet voice of his.
āIāve missed you too, love.ā You say, twirling a lose strand of hair that fell to your shoulder.
The flight attendant greets Ben as he walks on the plane.Ā
āWell, within a few hours we can make up for all the time we were apart.ā Ben says, grinning from ear to ear.
You blush.
āI canāt wait, love.ā
Ben loads his small carry-on bag into the overheard bin, his head slightly bent to hold the phone.
Ā āOk babe, I gotta run now.Ā Flight attendants are giving me that look to get off the phone.Ā Iāll see you tonight, ok?ā

After hanging up from Ben, you realize that you didnāt even say happy birthday to him!Ā You were very tired, but how could you not shower your boyfriend with birthday wishes when he called?Ā Well, you would for sure greet him with birthday wishes when you pick him up from the airport tonight.Ā

You couldnāt believe that Ben would be flying home within just a few hours.Ā You had a surprise party planned for him on August 25 at The Sayers club in Los Angeles, the day that you thought heād be flying home.Ā You wanted to do something extra special for Ben since he had been away in New York City for the past 6 months.Ā Now you were thinking that maybe you should have the surprise party for him tonight, but with such little time, how would you pull it off? Booking a venue in LA six months prior was nearly impossible, so there was no way that you would be able to find a venue to accommodate all of your guests for tonight.Ā You had many named celebrities who were planning to attend on August 25th, a whopping 150, such as Benās co-stars from Westworld, Narnia and many others.Ā There were even a few cast members from the Punisher who planned to make a special appearance.Ā Ā However, you didnāt want to wait that long to have the party now that Ben was flying home on his birthday.Ā It had to happen tonight.Ā
You throw the comforter over your bed and jump out frantically.Ā You shake hysterically as you reach for your phone.Ā Thankfully, your best friends were nearby to save you from the madness.Ā They came to your rescue as soon as you told them that Ben would be flying home tonight.Ā
āY/N, I just donāt think weāll have enough time to plan thisā¦I mean, Benās plane lands in 4 hours.ā Janelle says, biting what was left of her finger nails.
Shanae and Amy look at the party āto doā lists that you had laid out for them.Ā Today is Monday and they all called out sick from work to assist you with Benās surprise party.
āNo, we can do this yaāll.ā Shanae says, clapping her hands as she began to get pumped up.
You look so worried, not sure how this party would come to life tonight.
āHow? We donāt have a venue, remember?ā Amy says, rolling her eyes at Shanae.
Shanae smiles as she looks around your apartment.
āWe got one right here.ā
The girls, including you, look around with their faces frowned, lips turned up.
āUummmā¦there is no way in hell I am having Benās friends come to my tiny condoā¦.no way.ā You say, pacing the floor.
āWhat other options do we have, Y/N?Ā You want to have the party tonight donāt you?Ā Weāve called nearly every venue in Hollywood and none are available tonight.Ā Ladies, trust me.Ā Remember my auntās birthday party that I planned two years ago? I turned my grandmotherās house from Big Mamaās house into a happeninā party spot.ā
The girls shook their heads in agreement.Ā It was a very nice party.
You continue pacing, while listening to your best friends.
āY/N, what are you thinking, hun?ā Amy asks you as she places her arm around your shaking shoulder.Ā
āI donāt knowā¦..I meanā¦I just want to make this evening special for Ben since heās worked so hard this past year. I guess we could waitā¦ but since heās coming home on his birthday I thought we should celebrate tonight.ā
āWeāll make it happen girl, donāt worry.Ā We will turn this 900 square foot condo into the party that LA will be talking about for years to come.ā
āLetās not make it too over the top, Shanae.ā Janelle interrupts. āWe all know Ben is a simplistic kind of guy.ā
You take a deep breath.Ā You only had your best friends to rely on at this point, and a miracle from the man above.
āAlright, letās do it!ā You say to your friends, becoming your enthusiastic self again.Ā
āJanelle, youāre in charge of the guest list.Ā Amy, youāre in charge of the cake and food, and we all know what Shanaeās job is.ā
Shanae winks at you.
āWe got this girl, donāt worry.ā
āIāll call all the vendors and see if they-ā
āDonāt worry hun, you go get ready for your man to arrive.Ā Weāll call you if we need anything.ā Amy says, giving you a hug.
āGroup hug!ā Shanae says as all the girls come in and hug you tightly.

It was a quarter past 4 and the girls were frantically trying to put everything together for Benās surprise birthday party.Ā His plane was landing in 45 minutes and the food and cake werenāt delivered yet. Shanae somehow turned your apartment into a rockin party spot, with gleaming rays of purple, turquoise and blues that lit up the place from the wall lights.Ā Your patio was nicely decorated with white lighting and solar Chinese lanterns. Surprisingly, most of the guests were able to attend, which stressed you out a little more especially because your apartment could comfortably hold maybe 30 guests tops.Ā But with Shanaeās magic wand, she spaced out your place which could now hold 100 plus guests.Ā
āOk, Y/N, Iām going to pick up the cake since it looks like the delivery guy wonāt be back at least an hour from now.Ā The bakery owner says heās stuck on Sepulveda Boulevard in some crazy traffic.ā Amy explains, placing the last of the wheat crackers around the beautifully decorated cheese tray.
āShit, thatās not good.ā You say, suddenly becoming panicked again.
The three of your friends look at one another, knowing that familiar look of panic that you gave them when you wanted things to go perfectly for Ben.
āGirl, look.Ā Donāt even worry. You go and pick up that fine man of yours from the airport, and weāll stay here and get it all together for you.Ā Itāll be great, donāt worry.ā Shanae says, rubbing your shoulders while trying to calm you down.
āItāll be ok, hun.Ā We got this.Ā Now you better go!Ā Heāll be here soon and you know traffic is a doozy getting to LAX.ā Janelle says while embracing you in a hug.
āGod didnāt make you three my best friends for nothing.ā You say, grabbing your purse and nude colored wedged heels.
āKeep him out as long as you can, Y/N!Ā Guests will start arriving around 7:00.ā
āI really hope I can pull this off you guys.Ā Ben is such a hard person to surprise.ā
āWell, even if he finds out, I think heāll be so happy knowing what efforts that youāve put into this party.Ā Itās going to be amazing, Y/N.ā
Ā Just as you thought, the traffic getting to LAX from Santa Monica was a nightmare.Ā You were literally sitting in a parking lot of traffic when you received a text from Ben.
āMy plane just landedā¦.canāt wait to see you babe.ā
You smile as you read Benās text.Ā You could hardly believe that he was finally home after 6 months.Ā
āIām so happy youāre home love.Ā Iām in traffic, eta about 45 minutes.ā
āNo worries, babe.Ā Gotta get a shit load of luggage anyway so take your time.ā

After about 40 minutes, you finally arrive to the LAX terminal for Delta Airlines, and there he was, standing tall with his baggage, looking like he just finished boot camp for the armed forces.
You park Benās Bentley on the curb side and jump out of the car.Ā You felt a little nervous after seeing him in almost a month.Ā He approaches you and has the largest smile on his face as he drops his bags and embraces you in a tight hold.Ā He lifts you off the ground and brings you back down, his eyes drinking you in.Ā His dark orbs were now golden as they gleamed in the setting sun.
āIāve missed you so much babe.ā He says, his eyes hooded as he licks his lips.
āMe too, babe.ā
Before you knew it, Benās lips were softly caressing yours.Ā He wrapped his strong arms around you and kissed you gently.Ā You placed your arms around his broad neck and ran your fingers through his now spiked hair.Ā Ben deepens the kiss, and you raise your back calf, savoring the moment.
āMaāam, I hate to interrupt, but you need to move your vehicle as this is a no parking zone.ā The officer said, looking at you and Ben with a smirked smile.
āOh sorry officer.ā Ben says, letting go of his hold on you as he grabbed his bags.Ā āI always get carried away when Iām the presence of this special lady.ā
The officer smiled.
You blush.
Ben winks at you.
āYou in the armed forces young man?ā The officer asks.
You and Ben giggle.Ā
āNo, but you can say Iāve learned a lot about it.ā Ben responds, smiling at you.
āIām just happy to have him home.ā You say.
Ben winks at you, awakening those butterflies in your tummy.
āYou two have a wonderful eveningā¦and stay out of trouble.ā Says the officer, moving on to continue directing traffic.
āThanks officer, you too!ā
Ben grabs his luggage and you assist him with loading everything into the trunk.Ā Ben had so much luggage, but you managed to make it all fit.
āPerfect fit, babe.ā Ben says, embracing you in a tight hold again.Ā He was waiting for you to shower him with birthday greetings, but he figured you were distracted since the officer continued giving you both looks to move out of the street.
āLetās get outta here.ā Ben says, taking the wheel to the Bentley and heads to the I-405 freeway.
It was a beautiful evening in LA.Ā Ben smiled as he took in the sounds, smells and smog of LA.Ā He missed it so much.Ā
As he was driving, he could barely keep his eyes on the road.Ā He gave you that look of need as he nibbled on his bottom lip, letting out soft groans.
āBabe, you are driving me wild in that romper.ā
You smile.Ā You loved it when Ben got turned on.
āThanks babe, itās all for you.ā
Ben smirks.
āIt wonāt be on you for too much longer.ā
And Ben was right.Ā He carried you from the car into his home in Malibu, kissing you fervently as your legs wrapped tightly around his waist.Ā Your romper barely made it inside of Benās home, falling off of your ankles as he slammed your body through the front door.Ā Before you knew it, your romper was on the floor and I think you can conclude was happened nextā¦ā¦.

Ben wasnāt lying when he said youād make up for all the time you were apart.Ā After catching up on loving one another like it was your first time, you finally wake up from what must have been the 20th call from your friends.Ā You frantically look for a watch or your phone to check the time.

You were supposed to have been at the party by 8:00.Ā You look over at Ben, who was sleeping so peacefully.Ā He needed rest and you were so happy to be resting with him in his arms.Ā But the party was happening now and the guest of honor and host werenāt even there yet!Ā You begin to panic and jump out of bed hastily.
You throw your clothes on and shuffle your fingers through your hair, brushing your teeth with your fingers.Ā
Ben turns over, waking up and grinning at you.
āHey beautiful, come here.ā he begs, looking at you with hooded eyes.
He pulls you close to him and brushes back your bouncy locks.
āIām so happy that I get to wake up next to you every day babe, especially today.ā
Ben thought by now that you would pass him a birthday greeting, besides, he only had four hours left for his birthday.
You were so focused on making the surprise party that it didnāt cross your mind to wish Ben a happy birthday.
āMe too, babe.Ā But Oh, I just remembered. I made dinner reservations for us at Tar & Roses for 9 pm.Ā We gotta jet nowā¦.ā
Ben gives you that look again.
āHow about after round 6.ā

Wellā¦after several more rounds of birthday love making, you finally made it back to your apartment.Ā You told Ben that you needed to get a sweater and texted the girls to tell them that you were around the corner.
āSsshHHHH everyone, theyāre HERE!!ā Shanae says to the crowd.
The door flies opens, and in comes you and Ben.
āSURRRRPRISE!!!!!ā
There is a house full of people.Ā You were so overwhelmed with joy at the amount of people that showed up for Benās birthday surprise, especially with the last minute schedule change.Ā And your apartment was transformed into a swanky night club.Ā Great job, Shanae!
Ben jumped back and smiled as he looked around the room. Seeing so many of his friends that he hadnāt seen in months were there.Ā Jason Moore and a few other cast members from the Punisher were there too.Ā It was such a nice surprise and Ben really had no idea.
āWowā¦ā¦ā Ben says as you both enter the apartment.Ā He received hugs and birthday greetings from the entire crowd.Ā You stepped aside and let him have a moment to catch up with his friends.Ā Shanae, Amy and Janelle come up to you.
āSo where have you been missy?ā Shanae says, smirking and looking you up and down.
āI think we all know where she was.ā Amy interrupts as you all giggle.
āSo, what do you think of the party, Y/N?ā Shanae ask, sipping a martini.Ā
āThis party is AMAZING!!! I canāt believe this is actually my apartment.Ā And how did you get Hozier to come?Ā The best surprise ever!ā

You hug your friends again.Ā

As you hug your girlfriends, you make eye contact with Ben from across the room.Ā Now you realized that you spent the entire day rushing around and letting every interruption interfere with you relaying a birthday greeting to him.Ā This time you would not forget.
Ben makes his way through the crowd and takes your hand, kissing it softly.Ā
āYou did all this for me?ā He asks, looking at you with so much love in his eyes.
āI did.ā You say.
āā¦and with a little help from her squad!ā Shanae blurts out.
Ben smiles and kisses each of your friends on their cheeks.Ā He turns and faces you, taking your hand again.Ā
āBabe, I honestly thought that you forgot my birthday.Ā But clearly, you didnāt.ā
You smile.
āI could never forget your birthday, babe.Ā Iāve been wanting to say this all day, but I kept getting interrupted.ā
Ben smiles.
āWell, I guess I contributed to that too.ā He says, winking at you.Ā
Ben moves in closer to you and cups your face.Ā He lands a soft kiss on your lips, sending the crowd cheering.Ā Shanae and the girls bring out the cake, which lit up the entire room from the firecracker candles.Ā
The entire room begins to sing happy birthday to Ben. Heās so overwhelmed and begins to laugh hysterically, placing his hand on the back of his head.Ā This was one of the best birthdays that he had experienced, all because of you.
You slice a piece of cake and fed it to Ben, placing some frosting on his nose.Ā He went after you and chased you around the kitchen island, finally grabbing you while you laughed your heart out.Ā He cornered you against the wall, placing frosting on your nose as well.Ā He feeds you cake and you feed him cake too.Ā It was definitely a birthday that he would never forget.
