Korra is understandably still adjusting to her new surroundings, although it is obvious she prefers the outside area in comparison to the indoor facility. It's far too cramped for her tastes and while she does enjoy visiting the gym regularly, fresh air is far more appealing. After all, she spent weeks living in a swamp alongside the wondrous Toph Bei Fong, so perhaps it's not all that strange she develops a liking for resting in the tallest trees she can find.
It's the quiet she longs for and it also gives her plenty of time to let her mind wander, but that isn't always a good thing. Korra finds herself missing her friends and her family more than ever; she curses herself for not at least making it to Republic City before she was taken here. At the very least, she wishes that she could have reunited with Asami, Mako and Bolin after three long years. A part of her hopes that they too were brought here, but she knows the chances are highly unlikely.
A muffled voice somewhere below the trees immediately snaps Korra out of her meditation. Normally, she's able to tune most of the strange voices out without a single problem, however this one is different than the rest— it's familiar. Incredibly so.
"That's... That's got to be Asami!" Korra says under her breath excitedly.
Hesitating, she can't help wondering if it's her imagination playing tricks on her. There's also the fact that she hasn't seen her best friend in over three years. What if she hates her for disappearing without a word of notice? Inhaling deeply, Korra pushes all her doubt away and in one precise leap, she lands on a lower branch. From where she kneels now, she can see Asami a few feet away, apparently talking to herself.
"Asami!" she shouts loudly. Before her friend can properly react, Korra's running in her direction the fastest her feet can carry her. She wraps her arms around Asami in a tight hug, grinning like a happy fool the entire time. "I- I can't believe you're here. It's been so long... How are you?"
