kinda crazy how people don’t think gege is a misogynist by virtue of him having female characters because like kishimoto’s writing of female characters is like, a teenage boy’s idea where he just sidelines his female characters because he doesn’t really care, but gege’s is like. Oh my goodness it’s almost villainous and mean in comparison. Building up female characters only to skewer them completely and sideline them so bad they become irrelevant. Making them incestuous. Like gege is on shit that would make kishimoto blush

The question of whether Kurapika or Sasuke came first is kind of a trick question because the Naruto oneshot which spawned the Naruto series predates hxh and thus Kurapika. Crucially, however, the Naruto oneshot did not feature Sasuke, and Kurapika’s manga debut predates Sasuke’s. Kishimoto is very open about Togashi inspiring him, and about Sasuke being inspired by Kurapika. However! Kurapika has a lot in common with an earlier Togashi character, Hiei (Kurapika is more like Hiei than Kurama and I will die on this hill), and Togashi has professed to Hiei being inspired by Skunky, a character from the BL manga/anime Patalliro!…

…Meaning that the real winner here is boys’ love. Amen.
