This started as a doodle in my work notebook, and 4 days later... A peaceful morning at the Beacon!
I haven't had this much fun drawing in literal years!! If you couldn't already tell, I am still really fixated on these silly little penguin characters. 🥺💖
It's also a depiction of the last scene of my fic, Beacon of Light!
I Realized i havent Drawn my dearest penguin friends in a few days. And i haven’t refined my jpg gijnka. Here is comfypackguy i think he would wear this at home. Let’s all embrace reading glasses jpg.
hi! i'm making this guide after the chaos that was the one million penguins celebration on club penguin journey, so that this can hopefully help some people who are new to mascot meeting, or just aren't as well versed. keep in mind that this guide is CPJ focused, and while it may apply to other CPPSes, it wasn't made with them in mind.
so... here is:
shutterbug's mascot meeting guide!
(at-a-glance bulletpoint list, and a much longer full guide below.)
here's a quick list of everything covered here.
mascots aren't bots, they are real people! be nice to them and your fellow players!
if you have a good connection but you're getting disconnected, the server probably crashed. be on standby to rejoin or serverhop.
if it isn't letting you in the queue, the server is overloaded, but DON'T LEAVE QUEUE unless the server has crashed. you're STILL IN QUEUE, even if it's not showing you your place.
if you're NOT getting the STAMP or FRIEND REQUEST, the server is lagging and you'll get it later or upon rejoining the game. (sometimes it takes a while)
mascots usually don't use their map and instead waddle around the island normally. you can wait in rooms you think they'll be in.
they can join ANY SERVER, but it's usually servers that have a lot of empty space (very rarely blizzard but it still happens)
mascots tend to join the same servers as each other, so if you still have a lot of them to meet, you should stick around on that server because more might show up
okay! let's go into more depth below.
what is a mascot?
mascots are the official club penguin characters that you can occasionally meet in-game! usually during events or parties (but sometimes randomly), they'll log on and waddle around the island to interact with players. these characters are NOT bots, the characters are played by real people on the staff team, so be nice to them!
why should i meet them?
you don't have to meet them, it's really just for fun, but you do need to meet all of them if you want to complete your stampbook. to get a mascot's stamp, all you have to do is be in the same room as them, even if it's just for a second. you can also click on their profile for a background, which can sometimes be exclusive depending on the party! you can even do this when they are offline from their playercard, so if you only care about the items, you don't actually need to meet them again during parties.
how do i know if a mascot is online?
when you meet a mascot, they will automatically send you a friend request as well. if you accept, you'll see them come online when they're in your server! there are also social media accounts, blogs, and discord servers dedicated to mascot tracking that you can follow or join for updates.
what's the deal with postcards?!
you might see a lot of people asking mascots for postcards. some people just like to collect them! sometimes, mascots will send rare or off-season postcards, like sending a christmas postcard during the summer. to get a postcard, all you have to do is be in the same room as a mascot when they send one - they send it to everyone present in the room, and they do it often.
-
here's some things to remember for mascot meets. there's a lot of people who want to meet and talk to them too, so it can get hectic really quick.
ETIQUETTE
as stated above, the mascots are played by real people. please be kind to them, as well as your fellow players. the CPJ team does this all for free, for the enjoyment of the players! they're not getting paid!
don't yell at other penguins for wanting to stick around after they've gotten the stamp and friend request. the purpose of mascots is to interact with the community. it can be frustrating when you're trying to get in, but please remember to not police how other people play the game. there'll always be a next time.
-
QUEUES
CPJ has a queue system, so when a server is full, you can get in line to join. when possible, make sure you have a good connection, otherwise you can get disconnected and get bumped to the back again.
if you have a good connection but the queue isn't showing up, DON'T REFRESH THE PAGE! you might still be in queue, but if the server under lots of stress, the queue can be invisible. if you have a good connection but you are repeatedly getting disconnected, it's likely that the server has crashed! be prepared to join another server.
-
SERVERS & SERVERHOPPING
mascots can join ANY of the servers, including popular servers like blizzard, though they tend to join servers that have less people at the time. so, it is often zipline, marshmallow, or sleet! if multiple are visiting, they'll often join the same servers together, so if you still have more to meet you might want to stick around just in case.
when multiple mascots are online, or it's just a mascot that's very high demand like Rookie, they can sometimes crash servers because so many people are trying to get in.
this can cause the mascot(s) to move to a different server, but NOT ALWAYS! be prepared to reload the page, but be careful about doing it immediately because they may rejoin the same server, or survive the crash.
if you have mascots friended, you can actually see if they're online on other servers, as even though they'll appear offline they will be at the top of your friends list.
STAMPS & FRIEND REQUESTS
sometimes when the servers are lagging, stamps and friend requests can be sent late. if you aren't getting them immediately, don't panic! you'll likely get them later or upon rejoining the game. if you still haven't gotten them despite being in the same room as a mascot, you should contact CPJ support because it's a bug.
-
TRACKING
following around mascots, sometimes you can get lost or separated. you can't check a mascot's location from their playercard, so sometimes you have to do some guesswork... think about who the character is and where you think they'll visit! for example, mascots like DJ Maxx and Cadence like to visit the nightclub.
mascots usually waddle around the island without using their map, so you can also wait outside rooms they're in and hope that they come out. for example, if a mascot is at the cove, you can wait outside in the forest because it's the only connecting room and it's likely they'll go there. they also tend to announce where they're going, "I'm hungry, why don't we go to the Pizza Parlor?"
you can even sometimes catch mascots before they're even online by seeing the buddy icon next to a server! this only works if you either only have mascots friended, or if you're sure that everyone else on your friends list is offline.
i mentioned this before but alternatively, you can join a discord server or follow a blog/account dedicated to mascot tracking, and they'll post the location of mascots that are online. this job can be stressful, so please be kind to the trackers.

... i think that covers most things that you'd need to know. if there's anything else i should add, please feel free to send in an ask or reply! thank you for reading!
