pampered.
there’s something about @besunhee that claudine can’t help but admire, although that shouldn’t be any sort of shocking fact. it’s no secret than sunhee is a hardworking girl, always putting a smile on her face despite handling rude customers who abuse the kindness of workers. she always despised how awful people can be once they’re given a shot of power simply because customers are always right, or however that saying goes.
she notices sunhee having to deal with that again, so claudine interjects—telling the customer that they’re holding up the line, staring them down until they finally relented and went about their day. how does sunhee deal with this everyday? claudine would’ve lost her mind, it’s a privilege that she doesn’t have to.
claudine sticks around, both to make sure sunhee is okay and so that she can see for certain that the customer is on their best behaviour.
“is your shift over?” she asks the other girl, taking a peek at the time from her phone. “that sounded like a horrible experience, you deserve a break after that.” it’s terrible, being berated by a stranger over something out of her control. freaking karens. “we should go somewhere, do some shopping! my treat.”
sunhee hates this. she truly, genuinely hates this. it's hard enough that she has to force a smile, but this customer is so terribly rude that she thinks one more word and she might throw this cake onto his face. she doesn't though, if anything her co-worker tugging at her sleeve reminds her of the fact that she needs this job more than anything.
she's glad though that claudine interjects when she does, because she feels as though she's seconds away from saying fuck it and climbing over the counter. she sighs, when the customer finally moves and her shoulders visibly relax.
everything else goes as it usually does, and sunhee finds herself melting once her shift is close to done. "yeah, i'm about done," she sighs, taking a seat opposite claudine. "thanks for earlier unnie," she smiles, because one wrong move and sunhee probably would've been out of a job.
her eyes brighten though when claudine mentions bringing her out to shop. "really?" she beams, "... your treat?" she lifts her head. sunhee has no sense of self-pride when it comes to these things though, and so her smile only grows wider. "okay! let's go! i'll go get changed!"
