My baby is 20 days old today. While I was in labor a storm was brewing and I walked on the deck and watched this tree whip in the powerful wind. The storm raged all day & night as I birthed our daughter. I felt very connected to this tree, rooted but far out of my own control. These have truly been the happiest days of my life. 25 years spent dreaming about holding my baby girl and here she is. Pushing out a healthy 8 lb 9 oz baby with no pain medication and the support of my husband, family & midwives has given me a newfound love and respect for myself. Jade calls me a hero...that is exactly how I feel. I have so much gratitude for my body for nourishing and birthing my daughter that I feel high on myself. How has it taken this long for me to truly understand and respect my body? I miss my big belly, now replaced by this jiggly, empty one, but having her in my arms is the greatest reward for 9 months of wondering who she would be. Knowing now that it was her all along is the strangest most magical feeling. It was her going on long walks with us, hooping with me, kicking my belly and hiccuping at night. It is such a trip to look at her and know that she was inside me for so long. I want so badly to share pictures of her perfect little face with you all, but we also want to shield her from social media & keep her all to ourselves in our real-life fairytale 🦄 The night she was born a wild storm raged and the wind blew in sync with my contractions, I am told. The next morning this tree outside our kitchen window burst out in pink blossoms, announcing her arrival 🌸 The earth knows she is here!
