Backstory?:

Hi? My full name's Ethan Valdez I picked it myself :) my actual name is V14 that the scientist gave me but I don't think that's a normal name so I picked a more "normal" name! According to the scientist I'm 14 years old I think they said? I dunno 🤷‍♂️ My symbiote is a clone made off of a sample collected off of THE Venom and I was then made in the same lab, so the symbiote could bond and have a correct host. Me and venom 2.0 I guess his name is? (Sorry trying to think of a better name for him :/) Are best friends fr, we we're used as weapons by the scientist who made us until we escaped 😎. We're currently work in a vinyl store trying to understand the world outside the lab.

Open starter—Venom symbiote

Mod: fair warning I know nothing about the symbiote beyond what we see of it in Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man and I haven't seen that movie in a while...

Peter's been acting... off, lately. He's been aggressive, overconfident, and even egotistical. It started after he interacted with an odd alien substance that he'd been studying in the lab. It bonded with his suit, but he didn't really think much of it, just put it on and went out for patrol. He's been wearing it under his clothes since then.

He's bumped into by someone in the hallway a few days afterward. He scoffs uncharacteristically at them and quickly catches himself. "Watch it!"

Ethan stumbled a bit, using a tendril forming from his wrist to balance himself. The tendril quickly slithered away, and he turned to look at Peter's head tilted. He had a buzzing in his head. He knew his symbiote was causing the buzzing feeling that only usually happened when another symbiote was nearby.

"...sir?"

Ethan calmly called out.

"Yeah?" Peter asks with mild annoyance in his tone, looking back at Ethan. There's a buzzing in his head, too, but he doesn't understand why that is. "What do you want?"

Ethan flinched ever so slightly at the annoyed tone.

"Nothing really, just curious....um are you okay sir?"

Ethan asked watching Peter closely.

"Of course I'm okay. And don't call me sir," Peter says, narrowing his eyes a little bit at Ethan. Something twinges in his gut.

The kid looked Peter up and down.

"...do you need help?...because I think I can help you. At least I think I could...I know what it's like to have one of them in your head constantly at least."

The putrid scent of New York's hustle and bustle filled my nose, for once the menace dawned his more 'human' form. Wild red hair shifting in the wind, but the pulse in his of his other half- Red- continued. It was the blood in his veins, the part that made his madness complete. But the normally unresponsible chaos incarnate had... matters to attend to. A prodigy, another symbiote! The younger spawn may have been from his maker, a different Venom from a different time, but he had no familial connection to the brute of Black and White, and seemed to lack any knowledge a usual symbiote inherited.... a defect. But even defects had skills.

Cletus stood among the rooftops, letting the younger boy catch up, his tendrils slipping out from his skin. The red and black appendages twitching, ready to teach, ready to rip. The City that never sleeps was a perfect hunting ground despite the pestering heroes. But this child had... stubbornness, irritatingly so, even if the kid seemingly lived under rock and syringe he still upheld a morality he wished to squash. And tonight was that night. "You're lateeee~." He drawls in a sing-song tone, a sharp grin almost cracking his face.

Ethan scurried onto the rooftop, tendrils slowly disappearing behind him. He shivered at the cold from being high up the thin jacket he was wearing, clearly not helping like he thought it would.

"...no..."

He mumbled, staring at the ground kicking a rock with his foot. His shoes were covered with sharpie drawings of silly childish doodles of his symbiote and other heroes of the city.

"....maybe you're just early..."

Cletus’s eyes shift, still grinning, but his eyes darken faintly at the sight of the doodles on his shoes, but he didn’t comment- not yet… he’d just have to go steal some clothes with the kid and burn those when he wasn’t looking.

“Me? Early?” He mock gasps, a hand over his chest before laughing. “I set up the times! You agreed to this~ and I’m usually REALLY generous on time..”

Cletus tilts his head a bit. Letting some silence fill the non silent air before adding with a low purr “But you’ve been late, twice in a row… Getting cold feet?”

He shook his head vigorously. Tendrils creeping up on his shoulder from his own symbiote.

"No! You're the only other person with a symbiote that's willing to teach me anything..."

He said as pathetic defense. The kid shifted in the awkward eerie silence.

"...what are we doing tonight?"

Ethan asked quietly, a part of him afraid of how drastic the answer could be.

“Exactly,” he chimes simply, his plastered smile almost twitching “I’m the only one who gets it. Gets us.” His tendrils twirl, as if motioning to the city

“Tonight? Oh tonight we are going to go and have a little fun,” Cletus laughs and the symbiote thrums in manic glee- itching for the chaos, but first he had to teach the younger one.

Turning to Ethan and spreading his arms in mock opening- watching the kids reactions as he keeps speaking. “Us symbiotes? We need to eat, we need to thrive. And a city like this? It’s full of prey and fun things to play with.”

His head tilts, voice dropping to a mockery of a whisper, “The people see us and are scared. They think we’re monsters and we don’t belong here. The heroes lock us up, prod, use us. But us two? We’re free of them. Free of there jurisdiction!” Some of his symbiote tendrils snap out, breaking a wall of a nearby apartment

"Prey?-" his thoughts were quickly cut off by flinching at the sound of cracking. Quickly recovering, looking at the cracks back to Cletus.

"....not all the heroes hate us...not really right...?"

He swallowed.

"Some of them have to like us, right? I mean what Spider-Man used to have a symbiote and people like him!"

a few more spiders were coming out of the corners to join the first one, and it was ending up like a little leaning tower of spiders.

Ethan really thought he had a handle on being a host for a symbiote. He really did. His symbiote and him were both still trying to figure out what being a host and symbiote really even meant. They thought they had learned everything until one day when his symbiote was in control, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, they had passed a local church that rang its church bells. It hurt. But this wasn't ear ringing hurt this was genuine pain. The symbiote lost focus and Ethan was accidentally pushed to control, slipping off of the rooftop and falling hard into the alleyway, shoving his hands over his ears as he shook. The symbiote felt like it was shivering. Everything hurt. Neither of them understood why.

Charlie peeked into the ally, watching cooley, her ears preoccupied with headphones. Her eyes scraped over the receding symbiote. “That’s a problem.” she mumbled to herself, her hands rustling through a bag of hershy’s almond clusters.

“Hey! Catch!” She pulled one out and tossed it at the man writhing in the alley. “It’ll help, kinda. Unless you’re allergic to almonds or-“ -She glanced at the back of the package - “-lecithin.”

The candy flew, hitting Ethan in the shoulder. He glanced at it before he could react. The symbiote took the reins fast cascading all over Ethan's body and formed into its alien clone self. Consuming the chocolate quickly.

"Better?" Charlie checked her watch, two minutes past the bell, the sound had faded back into the familiar buzz of the city. She pulled her headphones off and approached, stepping over discarded cans and fast food containers. "So what's with the symbiote?"

She seemed too casual, too put together to be normal. No one in New York knew any symbiotes except venom who was mire of a dangerous nuisance most of the time.

Charlie waved her comment off- "Unimportant- first question: are you like a people eater or like a non people eater. Or kinda like fifty-fifty?"

The symbiote squinted at the new company.

"...yes.."

It tilted its head.

"I enjoy the taste of humans....though I don't seek it out often anymore..."

"Okay," Charlie smiled and extended a hand. "Im Charlie-" -a small ripple of black rippled across her extended arm- "-That's Bane. He's pretty mellow. But... I haven't seen you before."

Charlie had, like many other symbiote hosts, kept a small list of people like her. Bane, Sleeper, Venom, Scream, Carnage. That was... most of the ones Charlie could think if on the spot and... well this new one.

The symbiote looked down at the black ripping around the hand extended towards it. It didn't shake it, just stared.

"...we are new."

“Yeah,” Charlie retracted her hand. “I can tell. Symbiotes’ can’t do high frequency sounds. It’s a uh.. molecular thing, disrupts the bonds.”

“The eating people thing is a dopamine receptor problem. That’s why chocolate helps.”

The symbiote shifted back to the young host who didn't look more older than 12 he looked up at Charlie.

"....well, we figured out the dopamine receptor problem...but didn't know about the high-pitched sounds."

She paused and stared at him, "Oh my god. How old are you?" She bent down in front of him. Her eyes looked him over, large and worried. "How did you get a symbiote? Where ate your parents?"

Charlie could barely believe it, she had seen and talked to her fair share of hoasts, being a bit of a record-keeper herself. Most of them had met their symbiote in a lab, or in some event where a careless symbiotic left behind a bit of itself to develop.

He stated rather calmly he tilted his head at the parents' question, confused.

"I don't have any....but I live with a friend if that counts."

He admitted shrugging.

"And we were made in a lab."

He said like it was the most obvious thing ever.

"It- it doesn't count." Charlie shook her head. "Uh huh... lab made... okay." She nodded slowly, she had heard worse things she supposed. "How about we go get some food? I know a pretty good little burger joint."

She couldn't believe this kid and didn't completely trust whoever had been taking care of this kid, based solely on the fact that they were letting him swing around New York City freely.

"....why would I just leave with you?? I don't know you like that!"

"Well... fair-." Charlie couldn't do much to protest that. It was nice at least to find someone in New York that actually had a sense of survival. "I mean... I know a bit about symbiotes. I guess I thought it would be nice for you to know someone in a similar situation.

"Okay," Charlie smiled and extended a hand. "Im Charlie-" -a small ripple of black rippled across her extended arm- "-That's Bane. He's pretty mellow. But... I haven't seen you before."

Charlie had, like many other symbiote hosts, kept a small list of people like her. Bane, Sleeper, Venom, Scream, Carnage. That was... most of the ones Charlie could think if on the spot and... well this new one.

The symbiote looked down at the black ripping around the hand extended towards it. It didn't shake it, just stared.

"...we are new."

“Yeah,” Charlie retracted her hand. “I can tell. Symbiotes’ can’t do high frequency sounds. It’s a uh.. molecular thing, disrupts the bonds.”

“The eating people thing is a dopamine receptor problem. That’s why chocolate helps.”

The symbiote shifted back to the young host who didn't look more older than 12 he looked up at Charlie.

"....well, we figured out the dopamine receptor problem...but didn't know about the high-pitched sounds."

She paused and stared at him, "Oh my god. How old are you?" She bent down in front of him. Her eyes looked him over, large and worried. "How did you get a symbiote? Where ate your parents?"

Charlie could barely believe it, she had seen and talked to her fair share of hoasts, being a bit of a record-keeper herself. Most of them had met their symbiote in a lab, or in some event where a careless symbiotic left behind a bit of itself to develop.

He stated rather calmly he tilted his head at the parents' question, confused.

"I don't have any....but I live with a friend if that counts."

He admitted shrugging.

"And we were made in a lab."

He said like it was the most obvious thing ever.

"It- it doesn't count." Charlie shook her head. "Uh huh... lab made... okay." She nodded slowly, she had heard worse things she supposed. "How about we go get some food? I know a pretty good little burger joint."

She couldn't believe this kid and didn't completely trust whoever had been taking care of this kid, based solely on the fact that they were letting him swing around New York City freely.

Ethan really thought he had a handle on being a host for a symbiote. He really did. His symbiote and him were both still trying to figure out what being a host and symbiote really even meant. They thought they had learned everything until one day when his symbiote was in control, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, they had passed a local church that rang its church bells. It hurt. But this wasn't ear ringing hurt this was genuine pain. The symbiote lost focus and Ethan was accidentally pushed to control, slipping off of the rooftop and falling hard into the alleyway, shoving his hands over his ears as he shook. The symbiote felt like it was shivering. Everything hurt. Neither of them understood why.

Charlie peeked into the ally, watching cooley, her ears preoccupied with headphones. Her eyes scraped over the receding symbiote. “That’s a problem.” she mumbled to herself, her hands rustling through a bag of hershy’s almond clusters.

“Hey! Catch!” She pulled one out and tossed it at the man writhing in the alley. “It’ll help, kinda. Unless you’re allergic to almonds or-“ -She glanced at the back of the package - “-lecithin.”

The candy flew, hitting Ethan in the shoulder. He glanced at it before he could react. The symbiote took the reins fast cascading all over Ethan's body and formed into its alien clone self. Consuming the chocolate quickly.

"Better?" Charlie checked her watch, two minutes past the bell, the sound had faded back into the familiar buzz of the city. She pulled her headphones off and approached, stepping over discarded cans and fast food containers. "So what's with the symbiote?"

She seemed too casual, too put together to be normal. No one in New York knew any symbiotes except venom who was mire of a dangerous nuisance most of the time.

Charlie waved her comment off- "Unimportant- first question: are you like a people eater or like a non people eater. Or kinda like fifty-fifty?"

It tilted its head.
