I’ve been seeing a lot of people shit on straight couples in shipping and in general as a "joke" lately, particularly in the Dungeon Meshi fandom. Friendly reminder that, besides the evil straights, when you mock or put down straight couples for being straight/"not queer enough", you also make bi and pan people, and trans and ace people who experience hetero attraction feel unwelcome and lesser. Negativity hurts, love is love, happy valentine’s!

For such a chill series like Dunmeshi, it's such a shame that there are such a toxic part of the fandom (i.e the Farcille shippers) just putting down/shitting over people trying to ship their favourite ships.

Why do people try be so negative all the time. Dunmeshi basically has no canon relationships, almost no one is canonically gay/straight - it's as open as it can be! Just let people enjoy and celebrate the series..

One of the few manga I need to reread. An amazing but brutal experience, it's a masterpiece.

Got a bit out of hand with the prompt XD I ended up doing a scene inspired by this fic! Based on that time Marcille Izutsumi and Chilchuck were sharing a bed in chapter 47. It felt very memorable so I tried to recreate it but I kind of went offscript because I was basing it on my recollection of the fic lmao

^Obsessed with this guy and how he lets Izutsumi use him like a hot water bottle bc it's comfier.

I think he'd hardly ever act this soft + tolerant of physical affection unless it's situations like this: When the others are too sleepy to remember it LOL

Laius and Marcille's actual relationship dynamic is so much more nuanced and weird than anything anyone on twitter is capable of comprehending.

Like Marcille and Falin? That's easy, they're lesbians and Marcille would commit magical crimes against humanity for the sake of getting Falin back. Clear cut, no ambiguity.

But Laius and Marcille? Where do I even start. The succubus incident. Laius's absolute unfailing borderline insane faith in Marcille's ability and competence. Marcille's willingness to go along with everything and anything Laius suggests despite her objections. They're both freaks but opposite ends of the freak spectrum and for that reason they're totally inseparable.

Everyone saying siblings-in-law or platonic partners in the notes is proving that Tumblr also cannot comprehend what they have going on, I've seen like two people total that actually pick up what I'm saying.

It's not clear cut, it's flexible, messy, ambiguous. Laios's succubus manifested as Marcille trying to kiss him and then Marcille turning into a monster and offering to transform him into a monster by biting him, while Marcille's manifests as a heroic nobleman on a white horse sweeping her off her feet, which Laius IS at the end of the manga. Things Marcille loves about Falin are things she has in common with Laius. The things Falin loves about Marcille are the same things Laius admires in Marcille.

The L word is never used and their relationship is never explicitly framed as one specific thing, only that their bond is stronger than any other in the entire cast, and they live together after the story ends.

What are they? Together. What does that mean? Figure it out.

The best thing about Dunmeshi is that it leaves pretty much 99% of relationships open-ended. So fans can ship whoever they want.

To me, with the way the manga ends, Laios and Marcille doesn't end on a romantic one but it's set up where their relationship could genuinely grow to a romantic relationship.

Laios doesn't show her feelings very well but we've seen how he'll truly take charge when needed - and you can see how much he cares for Marcille with his promises with the Winged Lion, saving her from the Canaries and would do anything for her to be happy.

Marcille is so different to Laios but you can see how her feelings has evolved for him throughout the story. He is her bedrock, someone she relies on and can genuinely let herself go when she's with him. Her final thoughts before being flushed out off the dungeon was Laios and I think that's beautiful.

I'd like to think Marcille is the queen to Laios' kingship. Their moments together are short but beautiful, and the type of chemistry you just can't find anywhere. They're soulmates!
