"Light is informed by Ryuk that Death Note owners who have a sudden fracture in their psyche must suffer Soul Judgment, a trial which causes the user to contract Hanahaki, a disease that only affects humans who have used the Death Note. Light must persuade his arch-enemy, L, to love him, or flowers will sprout in his lungs, suffocating him with roots and blood. He must successfully complete the trial before succumbing to his illness, which could take months or weeks.
Light is well aware that he possesses the charm that would make anyone weak at the knees, but L isn't stupid enough to fall for his pretty eyes and tricks. If he wants to succeed, he'll have to step up his game."
