[FANACCOUNT] 160219 EXO’luxion in Chicago
We saw them enter the venue, but it was so windy and so crowded that it was really hard to tell anything. Fortunately, all three of us got footage that we could cross-reference to determine who was who.
---Concert---
I got direct recognition from Suho. Near the end of the concert, he was waving to people, and I saw him waving in my general direction, so I started waving my lightstick a lot at him and I watched his gaze shift to me and he waved at me. It was relatively brief, but there was enough time for me to give him the “OMG R U WAVING @ ME?” face and him to nod with that eyebrow thing that Suho does sometimes. I kind of felt bad about it because I hadn’t been paying a lot of attention to Suho for the whole concert before that, but it just made my attempted search for a bias that much harder.
Early into the show, Chanyeol ran into the screen as it was closing and looked to be in brief but legitimate pain.
Later, Suho backed into the same screen and almost tripped. Minseok watched it happen, and waited until the very last second to do anything in the ways of warning him.
When Kyungsoo was talking about going to see "the King Kong building in Chicago," (which led to an awkward silence because everyone in the crowd and I'm pretty sure most of the members knew Kyungsoo had the wrong city in mind), one of the other members said that he looked like King Kong. Then Kyungsoo said, "I am King Kong." And then punched Chanyeol very hard. Poor baby Chanyeol was having a rough night.
During one of the talks, they said that Chicago fans were the prettiest fans they'd seen. Then they said something along the lines of, "I bet they make good grades and get all As, too!" Then they laughed as if that was a joke. Um, excuse you, sirs, I'm a Dean's lister. If you think I'm pretty and being academically inclined is your only other criteria, feel free to just marry me now, EXO.
Good god, Jongin, stop it with the sex eyes. It's one thing when you're watching a recording and you see him give those eyes to a camera, but it's infinitely more unbearable when you're in the same room as him and he's giving those eyes to your general vicinity.
At one point during or shortly after Peter Pan, Chanyeol(?) came over to Suho and Jongdae and tried to pull their shirts up. Suho actually tried to stop him, and he never actually got Suho's shirt untucked from his pants, but Jongdae just let it happen—until his tummy was actually showing and then he put his arms over it. What a tease. Did catch a glimpse of Jongdae happy trail though... 😏
Jongdae was just too freaking much the whole concert. Imean, I expect that shit from Jongin, but Jongdae. Dude. Chill. I can't handle you rn.
Baekhyun was shockingly beautiful. I haven't specifically cared about him very much from debut, but since his part in the beginning of History (which was the second song), I was really taken aback.
Sehun was shockingly ordinary. He was ill throughout the concert, which didn't seem to impede his performance, but it did prevent me from giving him too much attention. But for the times that I was watching him, I was surprised by how ordinary his face looked. Watching him, I thought, "Wow, he looks like he could be somebody in one of my classes."
Let's talk about butts. First of all, god bless for those jeans. Just...god bless. Second of all, Kyungsoo has one hell of a nice ass. Third of all, I was actually surprised by how flat Jongin's butt was. He's just so skinny now, y'know? In the supertight skinny jeans they were in, his thighs were hot as hell, but his pants were still sagging in the butt area. There's only so much working those glutes can do for him—he needs to eat a cheeseburger (or deep dish twice in a day like Suho) to get some insulation under that skin.
Chanyeol got a really good kick out of the giant Kyungsoo derp face sign that he plucked out of the crowd. He kept teasing Kyungsoo with it, and Kyungsoo just attempted to return it to its rightful owner. To retaliate, Kyungsoo plucked a sign of derp face Chanyeol from the crowd and they continued making fun of each other.
We got to see a live performance of Baekhyun derp face. Suho was talking about how windy it was in Chicago, particularly on that day. He said that he woke up that morning and it was hot in his room so he went to open the window and then he and Baek reenacted the scene to show Baek’s reaction to the wind.
I missed Lay during the first few VCRs and during his parts of the songs, but it wasn't until the last VCR that I realized how much I would have truly loved for him to be there and to have seen him in real life. I shed a full tear during that last VCR.
I was so not ready for Playboy. I made sure to sneak plenty of glances at Jongin, but freaking Chenyeol. Get a room, you two (but make sure it's still the one I'm in). The show was technically pg, but they certainly were not making it a pg show.
During the concert, I really did notice how particularly tiny Kyungsoo is. Compared to all the other members, he is so adorably short.
Toward the end of the concert, Baekhyun said, “I saw a lot of you guys trying to learn the lyrics to the songs as they were playing,” followed by cheers. Then the butt said something along the lines of, “It was cute, even though you were still getting it wrong.”
Jongin and Minseok looked especially happy for this concert. I was not ready for Minseok’s level of cutesy and Jongin kept talking to the other members during the dances and laughing, which I’ve seen him do before, but I feel like he did this every single time he wasn’t in front. It was a lot.
For several songs, the members waved their arms and wanted us to wave our lightsticks with them. The only problem is, the members were not coordinating with each other, so while Jongin would be on one side of the stage waving his arm, Baekhyun would be on the other waving his arm oppositely and making the crowd look very disorganized. ;_;
Freaking Jongin during 3.6.5. He did a thing during the chorus that he wanted us to copy, where he’d jump on the 3, 6, and 5, and then he’d wave his arm for the rest. The problem was that he was waving his arm so quickly that by the time I landed (and got over the pain of my knees landing on the cupholders on the back of the seats in front of me), I was already half a step behind and couldn’t keep up with his arm waving. I was trying so hard, but he was making it really difficult on me. ;_;
Run was beautiful. There was a lot of jumping and they were all really cute and idk I just want to remember that.
It happened a few times before, but mostly during Hurt, I was distracted for the performance because the security were taking out whole rows of girls who had managed to sneak in DSLRs. There were a couple girls that they pulled out of the theater, then walked back in with and I saw the girls point to other people, who the security also pulled out of the theater. They did this three or four times, and I saw them pull out at least five fansite girls. I got really nervous by it because I was filming as much as I possibly could, but I know the security saw me, and they only seemed interested in the fansite girls with DSLRs.
The girl in front of me was texting for the whole concert. Texting. Who does that???
We arrived at the airport relatively early, and waited outside the American Airlines check-in for them to arrive. We knew they were either flying American or United, but we guessed American because of the evidence that we saw while we were waiting. Not only did we see a lot of fangirls and fansite girls outside of the check-in, but there was a group of three men who we recognized as concert staff, since we watched one of them exit the venue and start smoking before all of the members left after the concert. They spent almost as much time outside as we did, walking back and forth because we were pretty sure they couldn't figure out where to check in. At one point, I got up to throw something away, and I saw two girls, one of which was wearing an EXO varsity jacket. I paused for a moment, and shortly after they moved on, I saw the same three concert staff. The first two went on their way, but the third one saw me, saw that I was staring at them, and I'm guessing he saw my EXO necklace, because he started running in the opposite direction until he caught up with the other staff. Then shortly after noon, we saw a post on Twitter of an EXO member in front of a United Club sign. This meant that not only did we miss them entering, but we were in completely the wrong terminal. We hurried through security.
After we all congregated on the inside of the terminal, we found a departures board and determined the time and gate of their flight. Then we started walking in the direction of their gate, and we got almost to their terminal when we saw—go on, guess—a line of Asian girls with DSLRs being held back by police officers holding a red tape across from a sign that said "United Club." We stopped for a moment at the end of the line to assess the situation and confirm that they were inside, then we decided to try to get to the other side so that we wouldn't have to fight the mob of fansite girls to follow them. The security wouldn't let us wait on the other side, though, and by the time we got under the red tape, they were already loading EXO pt 1 into the car. It took me a minute to get my phone ready to record, but that was mostly because I didn't want to take my eyes off of Chanyeol's face. He deliberately did not look up at us, but there was a point where he looked up enough that his hat was no longer obscuring his eyes. Seeing his entire face up close was really what floored me. His beautiful, blemished face from 3 feet away, with his lips doing that thing that only Chanyeol's lips do, and his eyes moving around and being all 3D and beautiful like he thinks he's allowed to be an actual human being. When the cart started moving, I didn't run up on it, because I wanted to be respectful and not stress them and the police officers out by running. But I did walk, and I watched as they ever so slowly began to get farther from me until they were going so fast even the running fansite girls couldn't fully keep up.
When we got to the gate and I was finally processing recent events (and very nearly crying), it was only a short while later (and almost immediately after my group established that the first cart was exactly half of them, and it included Chanyeol next to Jongin, and a manager, Sehun, and Kyungsoo across from them) that another cart pulled up. I saw them stand up and go up to the lady to check their boarding passes, with Baekhyun and his covered face going first. Suho was second, and from the moment he stood up, his face looked so smug. His smug expression didn't change as his boarding pass was checked and he got onto the plane. Jongdae followed him, and though he had his face covered, by his eyes, I saw that he slept in his makeup from the night before (or else just didn't do a good job taking it off—he had black smudges around his eyes). As he boarded, it was hard for me to believe that that person was the same one who was so freaking extra at the concert. I realized later that it was because he looked so incredibly tiny. A manager boarded next, followed by Minseok, who also had his face covered. For some reason, it took Minseok longer for his boarding pass to get checked, but only by a few seconds. After they all boarded, the first thing I could comprehend is that they were all so small. Maybe it's just because the tall members were in the first cart and I never did see them standing, but standing on the same groundline as these four and watching them walk and stand still, they seemed particularly short and small. Which is probably mostly because the most recent idols I have seen from the same groundline are VIXX and Teen Top's Niel, and the eight of us all felt about the same height. Even Bangtan had enough tall members that shorty Jimin didn’t seem all that short. EXO, on the other hand, already has a great variance of height within the group, and being tall and standing near them, they were quite tiny.
