Ridiculous!! Unfortunately, though, I know many of us Mixies have undergone experiences where we are asked if we are adopted, or if our mother is the nanny, or if our father is a step-father because we do not look like them... What are some of your experiences of this growing up? I know I had my fair share!

Just Checking (by cheerios) So Someone decided to acknowledge the existence of interracial marriage and multiracial families. Cool! Unfortunately, the overwhelming amount of racist comments forced Cheerios to disable commentary on the Youtube video. What’s up with that 2013?

Absurd that this is happening in 2013! So happy Cheerios has stood behind this ad... How could we begin productive dialogue with people who directed hate against this ad and interracial families? It is important we begin this now so that our future generations can learn to be more tolerant and accepting of all families!

DATE: Monday, May 13 at 7 pm
WHERE: Taper Hall of Humanities Auditorium (THH Rm. 101) at USC (3501 Trousdale Parkway Los Angeles, CA 90089)
PARKING: Street parking or paid lots on campus
Free food will be provided so arrive early and hungry!
There will be 7 films screened, each 15 minutes long, all made by MSW students. After each film will be a short Q & A.
Guests are more than welcome to come as well, and it is free :) Hope to see you there!!!

What has been your experience with forms and questionnaires asking about your racial identity?
Interesting article and link to NPR segment on the experiences that individuals and families have had when filling out forms that ask about racial identity. It's also amazing to read about what it meant for people to be able to pick more than one race on the 2000 census.

The Race Card Project is a website where individuals are encouraged to submit a 6 word essay regarding their thoughts on race, ethnicity, and cultural identity.
