Look who randomly found themselves listed in the NME Gig Guide this week? :D
Apologies
Haven't been on here in a while. But am going to try keep this site a bit more updated from now on.
Now I’m in town, break it down, thinking of making a new sound Playing a different show every night in front of a new crowd.
Just compiled a list of open mic nights around Bristol to keep me busy between gigs. So if you fancy joining me at any of these then send me a date and I'll let you know where I'll be found. If you fancy a drink, a bit of music or even want to perform yourself then let me know and we can show Bristol how we do.

Some of you may be aware that I have a history of occasional performance as an Alternative/Acoustic act under the stage name BeyondTheStatic. Up until recently this didn’t amount to much more than a few gigs, playing for mates and living the life of a bedroom rockstar. Over the past few months...
And here it is, my name of the Oxjam line-up. I am so stoked about this one.
TheWaiting Game.
About a month ago I was at the pub and I met Dean who is the South West organiser for Oxjam Festival. We chatted and he said that if I was interested in playing the festival then I should drop him an email with a demo and my details before the end of June. I erred in self doubt for a while debating whether or not I’d be at standard compared to other local talent, then considered whether or not my lack of demo would go against me. Finally yesterday I saw he was on Facebook so dropped him a message asking whether there were still slots on the bill, he told me that he was out of the office but that it would still be cool to send an email to his colleague Laura. With no demo I emailed Laura with a bit of info about who I am and what I do and left it at that to hope for the best. Last night was open mic at The Cross Keys in Gloucester, I wasn’t sure if I was going or not. I decided I would and meet up with some mates there, but when I go to town I received a text saying that one mate had left and the other two were thinking of doing likewise. I was in town so I headed to the pub, with Ame and Lucy leaving I wasn’t sure if I would bother playing and maybe just head home myself. Until I was heading for a piss and bumped into none other than Dean and Laura. The gauntlet was set. This was it, no demo, but a chance to show what I had. Dean couldn’t stay for my set and Laura could only stay for a bit, but said she would check me out. I was, as usual, shitting myself. But I got up on stage and launched into my new opener, it went ok. On to the second song, a well rehearsed classic, I got half way through and realised that I was actually sounding pretty good. I continued my set with another old song, a cover of Just Like Heaven by The Cure and finished with a song I’d on finished writing this week. All in all I was really happy with how the set went. It wasn’t flawless, but the mistakes were minor. No it’s all about the waiting game. Laura had left by the time I’d come off stage, but she said to expect and email today so now I’m in a weird sort of place where I am happy with my set and happy knowing that when I needed to do well, I did my best. However, there is still no certainty I was good enough to impress Laura enough to get a set at Oxjam. So fingers crossed and I will let you know how it went.
