This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.

I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.

I just wanted to post my current glams for the jobs I'm currently running. Reaper is my main and I'm glad to be getting back to it after this raid teir. Monk is my second most used. And last my picto sets! I unlocked and learned picto for my raid group for this last teir, we had a lot of trouble finding a caster dps so we drew straws, I got the short one but it's working out alright.

People I'd Like to Know Better

Wow, this is a very late after I was tagged by @lucien-aventine but better late then never, I haven't known what time is for a while anyway.

Last Book: "The Game Master's Handbook of Proactive Roleplaying", I haven't read any novels or series really since being out of school, so most of my reading is manuals and guides around game design or crafts. The want to create is strong, but the ability to stick to a project to completion is a forever struggle. Growing up Animorphs was my jam though, and I did read the whole thing.

Last Song: "Fall Out Boy - Just One Yesterday", This is actually an outlier at the moment, though I am a fan, this is sitting at the top of a long list of video game sound tracks and fandom music. The latest FF14 raid teir's themes and a lot stuff by The Stupendium. "Everything Burns" right before "RIP AND TEAR (my way to your heart).

Last Movie: The last Move I saw was "Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc" I went and saw this with my roommate and really enjoy it. I was super impressed by the colors, of all things.

Last Series: Hazbin Hotel was the last series I completed, watched the whole thing streamed with a group of friends in discord in one go. I can't say I'm a part of the fandom around it, but I definitely enjoyed it and added a few of the songs to my playlist. I remember seeing Vivziepop's stuff back in the day around deviantart, it's kinda crazy to see it now and recognize it from years ago. Ongoing series right now with the same group of friends is Transformers Prime, one of my favorites.

Sweet or Salty: Sweets have always hurt my teeth so salty on a regular basis relatively, though a little sweet after dinner is nice sometimes.

Coffee or Tea: Coffee every time, it's the easiest to get a hold of and consume while working and I need the caffeine to survive.

Working On: I have a million and one projects started with random snip-its completed, half-working parts of a game design project, half-finished art, half-finished costuming builds. It's the staying on course and and getting the support and keeping the momentum to finish that I'd kill for.

There's not all that many people I interact with on here truth be told, though I'm trying to get better about that, so anyone who would like to join in please give it a go!

I love animation history and one of the things that always baffled me was how did animators draw the cars in 101 Dalmatians before the advent of computer graphics?

Any rigid solid object is extremely challenging for 2D artists to animate because if one stray line isn’t kept perfectly in check, the object will seem to wobble and shift unnaturally.

Even as early as the mid 80’s Disney was using a technique where they would animate a 3D object and then apply a 2D filter to it. This practice could be applied to any solid object a character interacts with: from lanterns a character is holding, to a book (like in Atlantis), or in the most extreme cases Cybernetic parts (like in Treasure Planet).

But 101 Dalmatians was made WAY before the advent of this technology. So how did they do the Cruella car chase sequence at the end of the film?

The answer is so simple I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me sooner:

They just BUILT the models and painted them white with black outlines 🤣

That was the trick. They’re not actually 2D animated, they’re stop motion. They were physical models painted white and filmed on a white background. The black outlines become the lineart lines and they just xeroxed the frame onto an animation cel and painted it like any other 2D animated frame.

That’s how they did it! Isn’t that amazing? It’s such a simple low tech solution but it looks so cool in the final product.
