Recently, mostly due to finally playing Digimon Story: Time Stranger after being told by people it was pretty good, I've interacted with a digimon thing again for the first time in a very long time, and by extention was re-introduced to this guy. And like a sleeper agent, so much personally formative fandom stuff activated in my brain. Then a dawning realization clicked into place with this guy from the Tamers anime, this perfect hot mess of a losser who never shut up with cripplingly low self worth, who gets a hard won redemption after making continuous terrible decisions but does not get forgiveness, is one of two characters that shaped my taste in fictional charters growing up. Baby's first blorbo, if you will.

This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.

I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.
