~Thoughts of Future Nancy Drew Game Ideas~
I made this post about Nancy Drew games I would like to see/play and I’ll update with more ideas about new games. I'll be updating this post from time to time with new ideas, so check back soon.
I guess the big one that I like most, and I hope Her Interactive didn’t scrap the idea entirely was a case on the cruise ship. I was super stoked when the Dossier series was going to do it (I did like that series, I like look and find games almost as much RPGS)
But was heartbroken when the series was canceled. But with hope that Her Interactive will still take the idea of the cruise ship and make it into a new game for the main series.
Something with Carson Drew:
I was thinking about this since Silent Spy, that I did like the contact that Nancy has with her father. What if Nancy helps her dad on a court case that is like the biggest thing ever or its high profile. The person being accused is innocent of the crime and Carson knows this, but he is being targeted and so is the person in question and it’s up to Nancy to see who is doing this and find out who the real culprit is.
Maybe Ned focused mystery
We have been hearing about Ned and his life at Emmerson College, it makes me want to see the college and see Ned at school. For the mystery portion of this, why not have a big sports event that has not only Emmerson college competing but several other schools too. Someone is sabotaging the events and going after players on every team, Ned is one of the targets, but he is getting blamed for it and is being kicked off the team. (They did say, if memory serves me right, that he plays sports in college)
So, it’s up to Nancy to clear Ned’s name and figure out who is going after these athletes.
I have read serval Nancy Drew mystery stories that take place at a cooking camp or a culinary school. I would love to have a food focus mystery that Nancy (and maybe Bess and George) go to a cooking school and something is amiss, recipes go missing, equipment malfunctions etc. , that there is a grand prize for the person that excels at the classes and comes up with the best recipes that it will get a cash prize and a cook book slot in the school newest edition ( the school could be a very prestigious school that everyone knows about) or a celebrity chef is hosting the event.
The Sequel to Ransom of Seven Ships:
I want closure for this game. I need to know what happened to the culprit and get justice for Bess. Idea that much like the first game here we are lead around trying to find the Location in question. (Trying not to spoil too much of this game so trying to keep it vague)
I read the book Crime Lab Case #165, and I thought the concept of having a crime lab camp would be so fun. Nancy and the Hardy boys and Ned go to the camp to learn about the latest investigation techniques that can help them in cases (Ned came along for a health science credit for school, and the professor agreed that this could count). The crew meets other students and investigators and teachers, but then tragedy strikes when one of the teachers is found hurt/dead/unconscious. So, the crew spring into action to help find out who done it but then get targeted by the culprit.
I know we had a few games that had medieval themes to it (Royal Tower, Blackmoor, Castle Malloy) but I want a game that would take place at a renaissance fair, where Nancy and Bess George and Ned go undercover to find out who is sabotaging the fair. Like the fair takes place on a castle ground and some people are not happy with the idea believing that its disgracing the history of the castle and the land, and the family that allowed the event to happen is in danger of losing the land, or something like one member of the family wanted to put the land up for sale to a big land project while another member want to keep the land the same and just hold fairs like the old days.
I read one of the dairies series and I like the concept of a well know mystery author being plague by bad luck at events, and its slowly starting turn deadly. Nancy steps in to try to solve the case which helps the author greatly (side story that the author was having trouble writing their next book and seeing Nancy spring into action and trying to help them gives them that spark back).
I would like to see repeat culprits from the older games come back. Some of the culprits were well thought out and I would like to see them in another game or even mention in passing. Before MID the last few games we did play, had some scary culprits, that would be interesting to come back and go against Nancy.
Nancy, Bess & George all decide to go camping. (George wanted to pick the trip that they wanted to do, and she picked camping) which Bess was not all that jazzed about, but she slowly starts to enjoy herself. Especially when she finds out there are cute guys floating around the campgrounds. On the hiking trails the girls witness accidents that turn out to be a little bit more deadly towards one group of campers. They are regular campers in the area and they tell the spooky legend of the place then campers start going missing one by one and evidence of the spooky legend are apparent.
Nancy Drew Horror Movie setting
Nancy & Bess (just them in this case) are contacted by a friend who is working on the next big horror movie of the season. However, accidents are happening on set with the crew members & cast members. So, Nancy & Bess go undercover to stop the accidents. But can they figure out which is real, or which is fake in a horror movie setting? (Base off of book #79 The Double Horror of Fenley Place)
Other Ideas for the games:
I would like to see characters that have a disability (not sure how to word this right), like being deaf or blind. I know it might be hard to program the character with something like this, but it would be a cool concept to have in the game.
I do want to see more reoccurring characters from previous games (I love seeing old references from the previous games in the newer games) or have more team action with Bess, George & Ned or The Hardy Boys. Carson Drew would be a interesting team up too. I would like to see Professor Hotchkiss come back.
I love the phone charm hunts in the games, granted I know with some of the smart phones today, we don't have the options of having phone charms anymore, I would love to collect something in the future gams or have a side mission scavenger hunt for items.
