((I know I haven’t been around much the last few days anyway, but that’s going to keep going for the next two days or so as I attempt to get all my school stuff caught up so I can head out to visit the wonderful scarletobsidian this weekend with a mostly clear conscious. :D I’ll be on a bus for somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 hours to get to her (and another 20 hours back), and I’ll get back to RPing then, since Megabus has wi-fi and plugs. 

So this is a note that I’ll be away for a bit, but back very soon! Thank you all!))

"Psh, are you kidding?" Darcy laughed. "That was awesome! If you wouldn’t put a resounding ‘No’ on it, I’d say sell tickets. Actually, I think Tony plans to do that at some point, just a heads up.” 

She grinned. “Luckily for you, and for me really, I was smart enough to have my messenger with me when you took me for a few flying leaps.” Rummaging around, she whipped out her cell in a ‘ta-da’ gesture.

"He would have to deal with the damages, which I think would negate the sales," she replied, her voice a little faint at how horrible the idea to sell tickets would be. "Yeah, that would be a definite 'No' from me."

Brenda smiled at Darcy's antics, glad that of all people the Hulk could have snatched, she grabbed the one person who was as easy-going as she was practical. It made the apologies easier. "GPS? Two birds, one stone, after all."

She yawned briefly, still feeling a little worn out for all that the transformation was a short one.

Darcy sighed. “Every damn day,” she confessed softly.

And she really did too. She missed the feeling of not really having to go anywhere or do anything she didn’t want to; missed being able to decide exactly where she was going to be and when. She missed being a drifter, and somehow running away from the world while running to it. She laughed quietly, adding, “The things I used to do could fill a book.”

"I'd suggest writing one, but somehow I don't think that would help." Brenda knew the pain of revisiting old memories, and did her best to keep herself from doing it herself. "Have you thought about traveling again? I'm sure Tony wouldn't mind giving you some time off if you needed it."

It was a relief and a delight to see Brenda respond positively. Steve was pleased to know his concern had been well received, and he happily entered with a bit more confidence as he strode over. 

"It’s no trouble or anything, and I’m happy to help out." Steve assured her, though he was sure she could see that for herself. It was no secret that Steve was at his happiest when making himself useful to others. He sat the tray down on the bench she’d pulled up, everything warm and ready for her. 

He nodded at her question, shrugging as if it were obvious. “Sure, it’s nothing fancy. I’m no gourmet chef or anything, but I can throw stuff together well enough. Couldn’t have made it this far without knowing a little bit—well maybe I could nowadays.” Steve hadn’t been raised in the days of fast food and microwave meals.

There was definitely something to be said for homemade food, and though Brenda had gotten used to having whatever the local dish was - often quite delicious, if one disregarded the origin of some foods - the soup Steve was offering smelled like home. 

She chuckled softly at his comment. "Yeah, people can often get by without much culinary skill, but I find it to be a good trait to have. I survived on take-out and frozen foods during college, but had to learn fast when I was... moving around." She didn't want to call it 'running', for all that that's what it was. 

She ate a spoonful of the soup and closed her eyes in contentment. "It's delicious, Steve. Thank you."

Baker's Dozen || Brenda and Sif

Sif, in all fairness, was still adjusting to living in the Midgardian realm. Everything was strange to her. Even though she had briefly visited the realm before, this was her first extended trip to Midgard. Thor had appeared to adjust to this realm so easily and Sif struggled to understand how. He had spent more time with the Midgardians than she had and this led her to believe that if she was to adjust to this world herself, she must do the same.

But who should she choose to spend time with? Stark was too busy tinkering in his lab to entertain the warrior goddess. Rogers, Barton and Romanoff were away on SHIELD business and couldn’t be contacted. Thor was busy with Jane Foster (the less said about that, the better). This left one person that Sif reasoned would be a suitable companion here on Midgard: Brenda Banner.

Sif was intrigued by the quiet scientist who occasionally transformed into a giant, green rage monster. Thor had explained the monster was the result of some sort of accident and this only intrigued Sif all the more. She had so many questions that could only be answered by the woman herself. 

"Banner," Sif called out as she headed towards the kitchen, the last known whereabouts of the shy scientist. She walked in as Brenda nearly lost control of the cakes she was pulling out of the oven and Sif immediately stepped forward to help. “I was unaware of your skills in the kitchen," Sif said cheerfully as she admired all of the cakes Brenda had made. “What is the occasion for so many delicacies? Is there going to be a feast? You should see the feasts we have in Asgard. A feast is not a true feast unless it lasts for days and the aftereffects last even longer."

"Ah, you must be Lady Sif?" Brenda asked, quickly pulling off the oven mitts and holding a hand out to the warrior goddess. "Please, call me Brenda."

She blushed lightly at Sif's praise of her cooking, ducking her head in embarrassment. "It's no feast, but I heard that Thor's friends would be visiting, and I thought I'd make something. And I felt like baking. It sounds like Asgard throws quite a party." She glanced over at the plate of already finished cupcakes, seeing now as a small offering in comparison to what it sounded like Sif was used to. "It's not much in comparison, but if you would like some, you're welcome to them."

Brenda sighed, relieved at having gotten out of the Tower for a few hours. She relaxed into the seat she had gotten outside at a nearby cafe, and she wrapped her hand around the warm cup of jasmine tea she had ordered. It wasn’t often that she reached the point where she couldn’t look at her research anymore, but she had definitely needed to get away. 

She closed her eyes and smiled to herself, enjoying the sun on her face and the lack of pressure that clearing up her whole schedule for the day had given her.

She let out a breathy laugh, “Yeah, I guess you would, huh?” Darcy shook her head. Really, if there was anyone who could understand the appeal of running away it would be Brenda. 

"I used to do this all the time, y’know. Before New Mexico happened. I either did jobs with my parents, or I played nomad. Staying in one place is…stifling," she claimed. She wasn’t trying to explain or justify her actions, she really didn’t need to; it did feel good to be able to say it though.

Brenda smiled softly. It was nice to have someone open up to her, and as much as she wished she could settle down somewhere, she knew that feeling of freedom the nomadic lifestyle offered. 

"It can be," she agreed. "Do you miss traveling?"

"Of course I’m okay! I’m probably gonna be screaming bloody murder later when I try to brush out my hair, thanks so much for that, but otherwise I’m awesome,” Darcy grinned toothily. “Hulk totally likes me, just fyi. Although, I have no idea where we are now.”

Brenda sighed in relief, picking at the hem of her almost-shirt and kneeling down next to Darcy. "I'm sorry for dragging you into this. I'm glad you're not hurt though." She felt really embarrassed for the Hulk's decision to bring Darcy along and therefore get her involved in an unintentional kidnapping, and she carefully avoided meeting Darcy's gaze.

She frowned as she looked around the park, feeling a vague amount of familiarity. "I think I've been here before, but I'm not sure. We could probably call a taxi, though, if we find a street corner." She figured they probably hadn't gone too far, as she wasn't completely worn out from the transformation - a good indicator that it hadn't lasted all that long.
