I hate those videos on tiktok where they are advertising a product clearly designed to help disabled people and literally every single comment is like "OMG WHO THE FUCK WOULD USE THIS YOU ARE ALL LAZY PIECES OF SHIT HAHAHAHA THIS IS WHY SOCIETY IS FALLING BECAUSE YOU ALL RELY ON THIS INSTEAD OF DOING IT THE NORMAL WAY"
Had a really good conversation with a friend yesterday about how people with disabilities often struggle to live sustainably. She’s a part of the climate team on campus and is very passionate about sustainable living. We somehow got on the topic of disability as well. I was telling her that people with disabilities often face criticism because many physically cannot live sustainably. Like, a lot of PWDs rely on single-use plastic medical supplies, pills come in plastic containers, they may not be able to use sustainable options (ex: someone who cannot wash dishes and who lives on their own might need to use disposable dishes).
I was actually surprised when she knew exactly what I was talking about. She brought up some ways that her organization is addressing this, such as getting disabled people on campus more involved in other ways rather than emphasizing that every aspect of their life is 100% sustainable. She even told me about a few studies she had been reading up on, including ones where scientists were developing things like recyclable or biodegradable pill bottles. It was a very interesting conversation, and it was really really nice to talk to someone who was also passionate about disability.

Can I be controversial for a moment. I think the primary stance against AI being "what are you, fucking ret- I MEAN stupid? you can't even write an email? LMFAO do you need a robot to wipe your ass for you?" is fucking gross and really speaks to how so many of you care more about having an excuse to be Right and make fun of someone instead of the actual environmental, ethical, and workers' rights concerns around the generative ai boom
Before you sodomize and water torture me i need to make it clear that this isn't me saying relying on what's essentially just predictive text is a good thing, that scraping data from the whole internet to train ai is okay, that we should all stop thinking or putting any effort into research, etc etc I fucking hate the push of generative ai it's patronizing and particularly sinister in our current political climate. But Like. You realize you're just punching down, right? "LMAOOOO are you totally braindead or what? You can't even decide what to have for dinner? You can't write an essay? You can't read a long article? Fucking buck up and put the effort in its not hard. Is your brain just mush or what omfg you people can't do ANYTHING" Can you step back and look at yourself for a moment. There are so many things we can talk about irt genAI being a net bad. The sheer amount of computing power and thereby resources it takes, the massive jump in emissions from tech giants that it's responsible for, the fact that it doesn't actually know anything and confidently regurgitates dangerously false information, the fact that it nonconsensually scrapes public works to train itself, I could go on for multiple paragraphs. But the thing you're choosing to moralize the hardest about is the fact that STUPID LAZY PANSY SNOWFLAKES can't even MAKE A GOOGLE SEARCH NO MORE and need everything DUMBED DOWN AND WRITTEN IN CRAYON for them.

it’s crazy how absolutely blatantly luigi’s constitutional rights are being breached and people seem more concerned about his appearance than a real, scary view of the power CEOs and the healthcare industry have over the legal system. like yeah he looks good in those photos i can appreciate that too but can we focus on the fact that the media is absolutely treating him as if he has already been found guilty. this could happen to anyone. anyone could be arrested over the death of a wealthy, influential person and the precedent being set right now is essentially that the prosecution can run wild and create documentaries declaring your guilt. like that’s really serious and scary.
