The small hero comes into Billy's view and an immediate double-take is had by him, brows furrowing in both total confusion and surprise at what Melvin is currently wearing—or really, what was wearing her.
The late-night-esque question thrown his way by her basically goes in one ear and out the other as his mind deciphers how she got the garment currently being worn, since that's absolutely his sweatshirt. Though arriving to the conclusion is, of course, quick and easy after pushing past initially being thrown off considering, well, everything—Jinx.
"Not real sure 'bout that one, but, uh, hey—whereja get that sweatshirt? Someone give it ta ya 'r?""

Being a mutant, Rogue had seen plenty of absurd things. This might just take the cake for at least the next month or so. She heard the sounds of struggling from below, but never would she have guessed that the person stuck would be... making duplicates of themselves into a ladder?
Her solution would be quite simple. She could drop down into the sewer access and fly him out. But this oddly dressed man was unwillingly to take the easy way out at the moment. And while being referred to as 'girly' was irritating, she was too curious to let that turn her away.
"Not sure if you noticed, sugah, but ain't much pride left when you're stuck in a sewer." She teased, though the fact that this stranger was about as native to the area as she was piqued her interest. "You ain't from around here, are you? Reckon folks like us oughta stick together. So why don't you let me help you on out?"
Her comment earned a laugh from the original Billy, one that reverbed against the sewer walls and echoed outward to her as he began the stacking process once again. A clone appeared underneath him, legs going on their shoulders and lifting upwards, and the process repeats just as it has the last two attempts.
"I mean, hey, that's why I'm tryina salvage as much as I can, y'know? But now I just wanna see if I can do it too. Curiosity gonn' kill me, I guess." He answered with a grin, though the higher the stack became, the harder he tried to focus on the balancing of it.
"Been here in this dang city a long while but definitely ain't from here. Sounds like you're in the same boat. Gotta play the guessin' game with each other." The accent she possessed was a refreshing warmth, a nice little reminder of, at this point, a past life; it was totally unexpected to hear someone with this, but fully welcomed.
And since the jokes kept happening with the duplicator, the second his focus decided to falter and switch to giving thought to her proposal, his balance fails once again. Down him and his counterparts go like a stack of playing cards, all landing with a hard thud one after the other. Adding insult to injury—or, well, more injury to injury—was now making all his clones disappear, which piled on more pain from their falls to add to his own.
Billy just let out a groan, both in frustration and ache, face first in the ground below. "... Yeah, I'll take one heapin' order a' that help now, stranger. Thank ya very much."

"So then how do you expect them to help you? Billy, you're being ridiculous." Ally is already making a packing list in her head. "You're gonna come stay with me at Xavier's. And I am not taking no for an answer." She points her finger at him. "I don't care if you wake me up! That's what friends are for. What's the point of having access to all this crap if I can't use it to help people I care about?"
The comment about not bringing consequences of his jobs to her is the first thing he says that she actually takes pause at, contemplates, and nods. She knows what he does is shady, and she does appreciate not having that kind of smoke brought to her doorstep. "There is a way to get rid of that particular obstacle," she shrugs. "What about not taking these jobs anymore? Get into something more...upstanding?"
She scrunches her nose at her own choice of words, not pleased with the connotation. "Anyway, we can hang here for tonight, eat the meatloaf, but you're coming with me tomorrow. I'm not letting you sit here all alone and sad with two broken arms."
"Hey, hey I’ve been—managin’ so far. It ain’t too bad." A falter in his voice; totally unconvincing, even to himself. Only a day in and it's been annoying and inconvenient, but he really could deal with it for the next little while if he had to.
Though that finger point thrown his way and the mention of not taking no for an answer had a certain light threat to it that the multiplier didn't particularly feel like testing the waters with, especially because she really wasn’t wrong at all and was just trying to help. He let out a huff and nodded in agreement, somewhat reluctantly.
"Fine, fine, I’ll go with. Only ‘cause I know ya ain’t gonn’ take no for an answer like ya said... n’ I also somehow also can’t say no ta ya too, which I’m kinda ‘nnoyed at m’self with." This last sentence was more grumbled out than the rest of his statement, paired with an eyeroll to himself.
His demeanor shifted when she talked about him not taking on contract jobs anymore, to not continue on with the path he’s been on for two-thirds of his life, and instead get into something different or more upstanding as she put it. He just looks at her with brows furrowed in the middle of his forehead.
"Loaded question." Simply stated after initially staying silent for a few seconds, though with some hesitation. Not really a topic he wanted to discuss, but at this point in their friendship, she deserved some sort of answer on this part of his background. Billy let out a breath through his nose, shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the other.
"Ally, I’ve been on this side a’ things for over twenty years, since I was, like, ten. Some rough patches here n' there, yeah, but most a’ it's been good n’ fun. Then ‘course stuff like this happens n’ it sucks but it’s just part a’ it, y’know? It's just... it's all I really know, so—" Billy says these last words more quietly, as if to just himself. "But I'm still enjoyin' m'self! Ain't like I ain't." He spoke as if trying to convince himself again; reality was, things have gotten more hazy and uncertain regarding this, especially lately, but he didn't know how to begin to even admit that.
"Wouldn't really know what ta do if I wasn't doin' this, honestly."

Ultimately- the autism prevents her from being a foodie because sensory issues, she can handle a gun and self defense but could not defeat the Numerous I Fear, and she would PREFER the crime not get to EXCESSIVE...so just a LITTLE thievery. As a TREAT. (And if it's something for her).

The apartment is unusually quiet, a rare luxury neither of them seems to know what to do with. Yelena has claimed one end of the couch, one sock on, the other abandoned somewhere between the coffee table and the kitchen, a takeout container balanced in her lap while some forgettable action movie flickers across the television. Every few minutes she glances up just long enough to criticize an impossibly unrealistic fight scene before going back to eating as if she's personally offended by Hollywood's understanding of physics.
Eventually she tips her head back against the couch and looks over at Billy, studying him for a second before a grin slowly spreads across her face. "You know," she says, pointing her chopsticks in his direction, "normal people probably spend evenings doing things like bowling or watching documentaries." She pops another bite into her mouth, completely unconcerned. "Instead we're hiding from the world in sweatpants, arguing with a television that cannot hear us." The grin widens. "I think we're doing much better than normal people."
A night like tonight is needed, even if it's one that's more foreign to the both of them than not. An evening that requires minimal movement and even less in the thinking department, it's a true mental reset before life becomes bumping and busy once again. They'll take full advantage, out of place feeling or not, as both have been decompressing in the easy silence this evening. It's been... nice, actually, and he's been enjoying himself even if words haven't been too heavily spoken.
Billy's situated on the opposite end of the couch, taller figure tucked comfortably in the corner of it to the point of almost being consumed by the piece of furniture. Dawned simply in a soft t-shirt and joggers, he's mostly being absentmindedly entertained by the movie playing on the TV rather than grumbling about the quality of it like Yelena, though he's absolutely more amused by her criticizing it than the flick itself, that's for sure.
Mid-bite of an eggroll as she starts speaking and he looks over at her to listen, only to let out a chuckle with the slight mouthful he now had. "Ain't nothin' normal 'bout either a' us." Said after swallowing as he sits up to face in her direction more. "We can kinda hide it n' pretend, I guess—but where's the fun in that?" He shrugs before a smug grin tugs at his lips. "I dunno, Yel. Now thatcha mention it, I kinda feel like I'd kick ya ass at bowlin'... Buuut I also feel like we gonn' both need them bumpers up too 'r else it'll be gutter ball central. Time ta find a time ta play."
a small shiver ran through him as those oh so pleasant words were spoken into his ear . his hands froze when he felt a second pair of hands tapping his skin, and glances back at the duplicate . well played, numerous . if Bart wasn’t eager before he sure as hell was now .

at least he knows when he’s been had . with record speed he’s unbuttoned his own jeans and pushed them off . ❝ alright, you win, ❞ he admits with a bit of a pout, facing the original again, hands idly undoing his zipper . ❝ but I still expect you to EARN your prize, yeah ? ❞ his face melts into a grin .
