Headcanon #1

At night, Billy becomes used to the way Steve spoons him from behind. He’s skittish. Uncertain. Weary of what he can’t see, so Steve starts slow with just a hand on his hip, then his side, then along his stomach. It isn’t until weeks in that Steve’s chest is pressed against his back while his fingertips brush over the patterns of Billy’s scars on his chest.

Billy often times falls asleep like that, lulled by the repetitive nature of it. He doesn’t tell Steve that he sometimes wakes up to find Steve shaking and pressing his palm over Billy’s heart, like he’s making sure that Billy is still alive.

When he finally does, though, he slips a hand over Steve’s, laces their fingers together, and tugs up enough to press a kiss to Steve’s palm.
