I'm seeing warnings about scammers trying to commission artists but the "reference sheet" for their character they want commissioned isn't an image but a .vbs file ("visual basic script"), and will run a script when you open it, probably to yoink your account(s), but I haven't seen this from anyone who's actually clicked it yet. Just be careful and never open a file like that, 'cause people suck.
For reference (heh)
At a glance, file name checks out. But!! Do not open a .vbs file!!!
Finished Sunrise on the Reaping... 2/5 stars.
Poor dialogue, one dimensional characters, lack luster writing, and overall, feels rushed and cheap. This was definitely written for a cash grab, none of it made much sense.
I am this gif:
Ngl, book lovers, Sunrise on the Reaping is not a good book. I am halfway through and am so immensely disappointed.
I actually have my thoughts written down on how disappointed I am in the book. Songbirds and snakes was better written.
Trying to get consolidation loans or refinance but no place will help me. I just want to be debt free, I'm tired of struggling. I wish I could win the lottery or someone kind would just give me 300k so i can pay it all off. I'm so tired, I just want to end it all but I cant cause of cosigners. Is it so hard to just want to get ahead in life, billionaires can get money whenever and so do other people but my god, I try and can't even get anyone to help.
I can't even get ahead because of how much each payment is. My cosinger telling me I ruined his life by not getting a degree, I understand it but it wasn't like I'd have a job anyways even if I had a degree.
I'm so fucking tired. I see everyone who is a creator getting recognition but I can't. I don't understand how people get popular, I just want to write but the world wants to keep me down and suffer. I need help but no one wants to help, I can't afford to eat and barely afford my rent but my god I try to make life just a tiny bit easier and suddenly life wants to drown me.
Why can't life give me a fucking break, I have never never in my 28 years of life have had anyone or anything care for me. I've only ever known what suffering is.
I'm so fucking tired.
I don't know what I did to deserve this shitty life. I just want to die.
i dont want a childproofed internet i am almost 30 fucking years old. give your kid an internet safety talk and stop making it the problem of every adult on the planet every time some cryptkeeper legislator gets the brilliant idea (via conservative lobbying) to push through yet another bill gutting our access to free expression + increasing the powers of the surveillance state + lining the pockets of Big Data in the name of Protecting The Kids they wont even feed. this shit is exhausting i can’t believe we’re going to be fighting about it for the rest of my life
Even working two jobs, I can't afford all of bills due to interest and I can't get groceries. I live with kids, how am I supposed to feed them if food stamps won't help me because I 'make too much'. I can barely afford any of my bills with 2 jobs, how do I make too much.
I just want a break in life, I want to pay off all my debt and not have to worry anymore. I'm so tired.
Just finished A Court of Thorn's and Roses, it was okay. Don't really get how it's popular. The sexual scenes were unneeded, everything was wrapped up to quickly and nothing happened but so much happened? I'll give it a 2 out of 5 stars, it's not great but not bad either.
context (via @mellorocket)
doubly funny that I saw a compilation of all the corporate accounts like "aw thanks elmo, we're doing well" meanwhile all the flesh and blood real human people are extremely not okay
Okay but Elmo had actually the best and sweetest response to all this trauma dumping:
And then all the other Sesame Street character accounts joined in:
And now I’m thinking maybe we’re gonna be okay… 💗
(Comment compilation from this Twitter)
I kinda feel for the poor person running Elmo's Twitter.
"So, boss... I may have messed up."
"What did you do, Ray?"
"Well, I made a post for Elmo saying 'Hi, how's everybody doing?'"
"I mean, that's kind of what we pay you for."
"Yeah, but.... <sigh> it turns out pretty much everyone is hanging on by a thread, badly enough that they needed to tell Elmo."
"Oh."
"God help me, boss, I think Elmo needs to be there for them."
"Get the others."
this is the energy that jim henson would be proud of.
and important addition

Always reblog this. Elmo and his friends will be there in your times of trial and doubt, to help you through your torment
"ugh forced marriage? this plot is so toxic"
That's the kink
"they can barely/can't control themself from ravishing their partner? How is that portrayed as ROMANTIC??"
That's the kink
"why is the plot so fixated on how tiny the main character is compared to the love interest?"
Grisps your shoulders so firmly
Buddy you're not gonna believe this
i NEED people to realise foreshadowing is. in fact. a literary device. and not a Bad Thing. the audience picking up on your hints is a Good Thing. because. it makes the story and it’s conclusion make sense. and some people will not see those but enjoy seeing them on a second read through. red herrings are one thing but if your novel consists of nothing but red herrings it’s not a coherent story it’s just a collection of paragraphs that don’t actually plausibly link to one another. you're not fighting with the audience you don’t look clever you look like you don’t know how basic fiction works. be vulnerable for once in your goddamn life and don't treat writing like a game to be won where the audience losing is a good thing.
Yes, one of the biggest lessons I have learnt from writing in recent years, is that it's okay if your readers guess the plot twist before it happens. Let your audience feel smart for picking up on the clues.
As a writer your job is not to outsmart the audience and show how smart you are, but to make the audience feel smart.
Your work being 'too predictable' and your work having a 'shock twist that came from nowhere' are two sides of the same coin, which happen when you don't trust your audience. Trust your audience will enjoy your work without over-explaining and over-foreshadowing, or, on the other extreme, disguising the plot with a million red herrings for everything to be a 'surprise twist' later on.
One of my favourite storytelling twists in recent memory (No spoilers) was from the Half Life games, and yes I guessed correctly what was happening before it happened and you know what? When the reveal finally happened, despite guessing correctly, the twist was a delight. And almost more enjoyable because I guessed the twist before it happened. I was so thrilled! Trust your audience with your story. It's going to be okay.
You can only reblog this on the 3st of January

in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME
and don't forget to stay silly
Most major corporations — from airlines to social media platforms — now aspire to become unregulated banks. Bankification today accounts for
This is a long read, but worth it. Some takeaways:
-Don’t use “buy now pay later.” The fine print isn’t what it seems.
-The fine print on medical financing, store credit cards, and contactless payment is also not what it seems.
-Payday loans are still predatory, even when offered by your employer
-Rewards programs are an income stream for the companies that run them. The points systems are manipulated so that the house always wins. They depend on people leaving money in rewards accounts and not in interest-bearing traditional bank accounts.
-Electronic payment apps like VenMo are not banks. You don’t earn interest. Your money is not protected.
-Your financial information is not private if your money is not kept in a regulated bank.
-None of this is regulated by the FDIC. Your money is not protected if it is held by a non-bank doing banking business. Our economy is not protected from the collapse of financial institutions that are not banks.
-The Biden administration was making progress in increasing accountability for non-banks operating as predatory financial services providers. The current administration is reversing those protections to favor corporations.
Oh boy.
A third of younger Americans hold their savings on nonbank tech platforms like Venmo
PEOPLE! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR MONEY IN VENMO OR APPLE PAY OR ANY OF THIS SHIT. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO FIND A REAL BANK OR A CREDIT UNION.
If Venmo were to close tomorrow all your money would vanish. There's no insurance or guarantee on any of these things. I know banks aren't great but legit banks will have the "FDIC insured" logo on their doors and websites, which means if my bank goes under tomorrow I still get my money back. Also I guarantee you there is a credit union somewhere in your town, go find it.
You can leave some money in Venmo or Apple pay or whatever, but NOT ALL OF IT for the love of God.

I think it’s normal for people to be mad at each other sometimes even if they’re close friends or family or intimate with each other. Like I think that’s a normal and healthy part of relationships that can happen sometimes
“Why were you on Mad At Me island” because at the time I was mad at you and yet our friendship has weathered that without trouble
