I’m sorry I haven’t really been back. The stress in my life has been so much that it’s made me physically ill. My dad recently starting che/mo for his canc/er hasn’t really helped things. I’m taking some time to rest up as best I can. I wish I could come back, but it’ll have to wait a little longer, because right now even going grocery shopping is so much for me that afterwards I’m totally laid out and nauseated.

Hey y’all. Just wanted to give a little update! My new job is going well so far, amd today is move day. My computer and my fan are the only things not all packed up right now. 💒 What kind of wedding would they want to have?

Sombra would want something small and intimate. She loves grandeur and luxury, and has a flare for the dramatic, but when it comes down to it her focus would be the person she loves and the bond they share together. Getting to that point would be such an immense feat with Sombra, that whomever she’d want to marry would be so absolutely precious to her, that the consummation of their love in marriage would be frankly sacred to her. She’d want something quiet and simple, totally about the love they share. An unadorned ceremony would be her way of saying to whomever she’s committed to, “there’s nothing in this world more magnificent than us, together.”

👶 Do they want children?

The idea of having children is absolutely repulsive to her for a number of reasons. Family is such a source of trauma for her that even just getting married would be a major step. Further, she’s seen the world the worst has had to offer, and she’d be scared of bringing a child into it. Finally, she’d be really frightened that she’s unfit to be a mother, and that she’d utterly screw up whatever kid(s) she had.

That said, it’s not that the idea of being a mom is repulsive to her in and of itself. She is pretty weirded out by being tied down, but could be convinced. Most of her hurdles would be around feeling inadequate or being afraid, especially if she hadn’t yet sorted out the Eye conspiracy. She’s not gonna drag another life into that mess. Still, in the right circumstances, I could definitely see her as a mother. She’d be a cool, kind liberal, very overprotective but also very loving mother. I think she’d be a lot better at it than she thinks she’d be, and anyone who messed with her kid would be screwed.

💓 When did they have their first crush?

Her first crush was when she was quite young. Sombra was always an odd child, and life at the orphanage was hardly pleasant. Neither the nuns nor most of the other kids were very kind to her, and she was dealing with grief no child should have to deal with. In spite of being rather scrappy, she wasn’t a match for a group of other kids. Thankfully, there was a quiet, slightly older and very kind boy who took her side and would protect her. He wasn’t much for fighting, but he was quite large for his age, and so his protection kept her pretty safe. They were never quite friends, but they had a quiet respect for each other and she really appreciated his help. He was her first crush.

After a few years he eventually fled the orphanage, which inspired Sombra to do the same soon after. She has no idea what became of him.

“Perhaps you thought wrong, fantôme.”

It was a leading phrase but the way those fingers lingered a touch too long on her catsuit made her feel more daring, the sensation a break from the monotony that sometimes drove her to distraction. The break was standing right in front of her, though she will scarce admit her surprise to have her circle around.

“I am as I always was – the perfect weapon. Emotions would get in the way of that.” A white lie and a practiced one, which helps her to prove aloud she is as unchanged as the day she awoke in that hospital bed, wires, so many wires and tubes… The light that made her over-sensitive eyes hurt; they used to be darker once, but when was that?

The grin draws her wandering thoughts back to the present, and her pale ochre eyes narrow in apparent distaste as she redoes her high ponytail while she looked at Sombra directly.

“And what makes you think we are friends? People like us, know when to kiss and when to kill, so trust is difficult. Without trust there is no friendship, n’est-ce pas?”

Sombra grin just widens at their repartee. ❝ You insisted on it in Russia... ❞ She trails off, and as she does trails a finger down the sniper’s catsuit, over the bump of her clavicle and down across her breast. ❝ ...Wearing this skimpy thing in all the cold and snow. It’s a wonder. ❞ Though she knows full well Widowmaker doesn’t choose her outfits.

The touch itself is daring, though given how Talon treats her like an object, well within the bounds of what the organization would allow. Sombra could undoubtedly get away with greater liberties, but she has no interest in harming the woman. She’s been harmed enough, and anyway, sometimes a gentle touch is best.

❝ Weapons don’t usually get frustrated when they miss, ❞ Sombra quips lightly, removing her hands from Widowmaker’s body. ❝ I saw the look on your face in the carrier. So close to getting Katya Volskaya before that alarm went off! Admit it... You were frustrated, weren’t you? ❞

It’s bait, but Sombra already knows the secret that Widowmaker is so desperate to keep hidden. She could bury the sniper in an instant, with a single message to her handler, but that wasn’t her aim. There are other, deeper secrets that pique Sombra’s curiosity. Secrets that she wants the sniper to give up willingly, or as willingly as anyone ever gives up anything when Sombra is involved.

❝ And would a weapon be so concerned about trust? ❞ Sombra asks. ❝ I can trust you to fire when you’re trigger’s pulled, si? Do I need anything else? ❞ It’s teasing, but only because they both know Widowmaker is far more than a weapon.

She’s a woman.

❝ I’ve always found trust to be a mistake, anyway, ❞ she continues cynically. ❝ Better a friend you know you can’t trust, then one you mistakenly think you can. ❞

“Feeling guilty is sometimes not for everyone and that is okay.” Although Angela was pretty sure even Sombra had her moments of weakness, her moments of doubt and guilt. If she did not want to admit that, she was not about to fight about it. Sombra was very much her own person and she handled a lot on her own that sometimes Angela wished she would confide in more.

Angela noticed the almost action, she was a doctor and studying people was one of her specialties. Despite taking note of that, she did not remove her hands from Sombra’s knees.

A little smile quirked on her lips, an easy sort of expression. “I hope you will stick around for longer than just a little while.” She murmured, watching as Sombra inched closer to her. She accepted the action easily and in an incredibly welcoming way. As hands reached out and drew her close, Angela snuggled up to the hacker. She enjoyed moments like this, moments that showed just how human Sombra was. “I do not expect you to change for me and besides, if you did, you would not be yourself.”

There wasn’t much expectation on the doctor’s end, she did not want to put pressure on the other woman to uncover her secrets or change herself. Angela moved her hands to touch Sombra’s that were around her. “I am glad because I want you too.” That was all she wanted at the moment.

Sombra smirks at Angela’s words. ❝ Guilt isn’t for everyone, huh? You’re a real enabler, doc. ❞ She reaches out one finger and curls a lock of Angela’s hair around one finger. ❝ Starting to think you might have a little bad girl in you... ❞ She leans in close, her hand trailing down from Angela’s hair to the back of her neck, tucking her lover’s head in the crook of her neck and whispering in her ear. ❝ And I don’t just mean my fingers... ❞

She leans back with a satisfied smile on her face before drawing Angela into an embrace. ❝ Y’know I gotta leave eventually. I don’t do tied down, ❞ she says, but her tone remains ambivalent. She purrs happily as Angela snuggles closer. ❝ ...but I suppose I can spend a few nights at least. ❞

She pauses at Angela’s words. I do not expect you to change for me is a sweet enough sentiment. She’d encountered it in romance novels. From Angela, she’d almost expect it to be a lie, or at best a half-truth, concocted to get her to stay, but there’s something in her lovers tone that causes a flutter in her heart.

If you did, you would not be yourself. It’s rare for anyone to desire Sombra’s company so genuinely, even rarer for them to like Sombra. For them to want her just as she is. She courts it, even, pissing people off for a laugh. But she meant it, it is quite nice to be wanted. Especially by a woman who is not only beautiful, but smart enough to keep up wit hthe genius hacker herself.

❝ Well then, ❞ Sombra coos in her lover’s ear, ❝ I’m all yours. You’re lucky, mi ángel. I’m a luxury few can afford. ❞ Her fingers rise to interlace with Angela’s as she cozies up. Her breathe deepens as she relaxes, and her nostrils fill with the fragrant scent of Angela’s hair. ❝ You’re delightful, Ange... ❞ she whispers sleepily.
