Is Courier Six a synth?
Since the release of Fallout 4, its been revealed that synthetic humans have been mass produced by the Institute for years. And, the Railroad has been assisting synths escape the Institute for almost as long. My theory, as it stands, is that Courier Six is a synthetic human. And several events in Fallout: New Vegas support this theory. First off, Courier Six was shot in the head at point blank range. And thought MatPat of @gametheoreoy may have proved that a person could possibly survive such a shot, it wouldn’t be without it’s side effects. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Why didn’t Doc Mitchell tell Courier Six?” That’s right I can hear what you were thinking. Doc Mitchell wouldn’t tell Courier Six , most likely because information like that might have caused further mental damage. The next clue comes from the New Vegas DLC Old World Blues. Upon Courier Six’s arrival to Big MT, the courier’s brain, spine, and heart are all surgically removed and replaced with electronic supplements. A process like this would kill any normal person, unless the person wasn’t a person at all… The last clue I present, the courier’s understanding of Ed-E’s beeps and noises. In the Lonesome Road DLC, the Courier is given an eyebot to travel with. At several points in the DLC, Ed-E communicates to Courier Six with various electronic sounds. All of which, the Courier perfectly understands. With the little clues we are given, could it be that Courier Six is a synthetic human? Could it be that the courier just had a long string of unusual luck? Could! It! Be!… Probably……
One problem with the OWB thing, is that it’s revealed that the Courier has a very special brain condition that allows them to function without their brain, as long as they have a substitute. Also, many subtle signs in New Vegas show that the Courier may have brain damage. You can have sex with 5 people in the game and flirt with many others. Constant wandering off from main quests to do tiny side quests. And depending on the player, rampant anger.
I did state that the shot to the head wouldn’t be without its side effects. But how could the Courier survive such a surgery? In any form of media, if the brain is removed, that character wouldn’t make it for a sequel.
