Atticus. Heâd never met anyone else with that name. Reilly knew his posture, attitude, everything about him changed. Atticus. He blocked out most of what else they said, shaking his head at their questionâ whatever it was. âIâ I have to go.â Reilly said. He never thought just a name could get to him so bad. He turn- ed away and quickly went into the house, hoping that they had the decency to let him be.
Had they done something wrong? The human seemed to be really distressed. They would have to find a way to say sorry-- âWait!â They started to follow but Mads was already inside before Atticus could get more than a few steps. They felt bad, unsure of what they had done wrong. They looked at the data that had collected on their âcameraâ to see what he liked, intending on return- ing with a gift and a heartfelt apology.
He hadnât seen one of those cameras in yearsâ Reilly wondered where the hell they even found film for it anyâ more. He stood and faced them, he brushed the dirt off his hands and studied them for a few momentsâŠÂ âMads Kingsley.â He answered, not sure what to make of the fact they seemed to genuinely not know who he was. He ignored the complement for now. âWho are you and what kind of game are you playing?â
They happily pulled a sharpie from their pocket and scrawled the name onto the white part of the picture, a pleased air coming over them. Madsâ question startled them though, they almost worried he somehow knew what they were. âI donât know what youâre talking about. My name is Atticus May, Iâm just traveling around to find beautiful and interesting people for my project. You could be a model, you know.â They were just trying to distract him now. âWould you be willing to model for me sometime?â
He was workingâ or trying to work when he was approached. At first he could only stare, they seemed like they didnât know who they were talking to. Reilly was half tempted to turn them down and shoo them off but. .  . there was something off about them. âSure.â Reilly said unenthusiastically as he kept weeding the garden.
They felt unwelcome, but they took the picture with their âPolaroidâ camera and smiled at the picture as it popped out and developed. âMay I get your name? I like to know who my models are.â They wondered about him-- his mood. Perhaps that was just how he was but they hoped it was just a bad day. âYou have a lovely garden, by the way.â
@applaudingdemiseâ
They were a sucker for blue eyes, to be honest. The human before them was so beautiful they wanted a picture and a conversation if at all possible. They smiled as they approached âExcuse me-- Iâm an artist and I was wondering if I can take your picture for a photography piece Iâm working on.â
{I feel so bad I forgot about this blog}
âMerry Christmas!â Theyâre excited, wandering about with their camera in hand. It probably seemed strange for them to be alone, taking pictures of things in the park on Christmas, but they donât seem to mind. Theyâre so happy to experience the peace, knowing humans were happily celebrating together. Maybe one year they could join a family for Christmas and study how it is for them.
He then pulled out a book full of photos. They all looked really old and dated. âWell this is a photo of me at the gettysburg address. Oh and I also have the musket to prove it.â Grima then pulled out a musket rifle from his coat.
Their eyes grew wide and an eager interest filled them. Atticus studied the items with a smile, taking notes quickly. âWould you be willing to tell me how youâve survived this long?â
ââŠ..Iâm not lieing. I am that oldâŠDo you need proof?â Grima said as he went through his bag.
âOh-- well proof would be nice. Iâm kind of skeptical, sorry.â They said, watching him.
âMy name is Grima and I am about 900000+ years oldâŠ.â
âW-wait. . .â They tilted their head, confused. âIf you really donât want to do this you donât have to, you donât have to lie about answers.â

âResearch? Photograph?â
âThose are unfamiliar phrases. I am not accustomed to human or mortal practices.â There was a sigh, and a pout, but in the end she begrudgingly agreed. âAs you wish, I shall allow it. Though something most unpleasant may befall you should this information be readily spread among the humans of this Earth. I have quite the status to uphold.â
âOh--â They were unsure of how genuine the agreement might be. It wouldnât be right to take information from the unwilling, but they were given permission. Atticus raised their camera to the best angle and took a picture. âI promise you that humans wonât know unless you want them to, but may my people be allowed to learn about you?â
âIâm here to collect information on this galaxy and the inhabitants; it would be an honor to my people.â
  CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT,             BUT SATISFACTION BROUGHT IT BACK.
  I SHOULDNâT HAVE SURVIVED,                         BROTHER, I AM SO SORRY.
  I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THESE STRANGERS LIKE ME,            TELL ME MORE, PLEASE SHOW ME.

Inwardly, the deity sighed. Just once, once she wanted to walk in the glade without being spotted by a village guard. Though  â  whomever approached her now did not sound at all like a guard.Â
âYes? What is it?â A sour look ( a force of habit, by now ) started to ebb into the deityâs face, yet she still was softened by the smoky red hues of the twilight sun, and the soft glow of the stars upon her hair. She supposed that perhaps just this once she would humour the intrigued bystander. Just because she was in a good mood.
They were unwelcomeâ but they couldnât let this opportunity slide away without trying to salvage something. âIâIâm sorry to bother you, but may I take a picture of you and ask you a few questions? I understand if you donât want me to, though it would really help my research.â There was always the option to decline, Atticus wasnât that invasive, but they were really hoping the deity might be willing to speak with her at the very least.
âC-could I ah-ask what the ah-article is about?â
âOf course-- itâs kind of a mundane, people enjoying themselves in the park kind of thing. Youâve got a je ne sais quoi about you, Iâd really like to make you the main focus if you donât mind.â

Their eyes grew wide upon spotting the deity, nothing short of awe coming over them. For a long moment they didnât even move or breathe, frozen in disbelief. Then they snapped out of it-- Atticus approached as if they were trying to get near a newborn doe. âE-excuse me?â Atticus started, barely finding their voice.
Curiouser and curiouser !!
{Thank~}
âDonât worry, Iâm willing to go through it. First question please.â
They pressed record on their mobile device and readied their pencil on their legal pad. âWell, whatâs your name and how old are you?â
