Six years ago today, we bought our first press. “Allison” as she has been named after one of my favourite songs by the band The Pixies. She was rescued from a salvage yard in Cambridge, Ontario where she was destined to be melted down. I had randomly found a listing online and called about it. The man said be here Saturday at 10am or it’s gone by the end of the day. Cambridge being a few hours away we booked a hotel for the night before because, well it’s Canada in February so... snow. We were there at ten haggled on the price and for $400 she was ours. Crammed the press in the back seat of the car and drove back to my parents house where I was living at the time. My dads words were “what in the f*** is that”. Explained he shook his head and walked away. Fast forward a few months I had the press fixed and the first thing I printed was Yasmines and my wedding invitations, never having printed on a Letterpress it was a learning experience. So here we are six years later...Yasmine has passed, Dad has passed and I’m still pressing on. Thousands of cards later, I think eight presses and an ever growing line of cards, buttons, magnets, bookmarks and stickers. I wouldn’t have started this without the encouragement and wisdom from Yasmine. Ana ahabak Zouga. Thanks to all of those that we have met and bought or products over the years!
