Introductory post of sorts:
I realize that this blog has been through a lot of phases and periods of inactivity verses activity, so now that I’m using it more again, I thought perhaps it would be good to have a brief introduction post.
I’m Birdie, and I’ve been on this hellsite longer than I care to say. I’ve been around the internet since the days of dial up and when the internet needed your phone line to connect, actually, so that can give you a bit of an idea.
A lot of my following base on here started though when I was actively writing fanfiction for the Metal Gear Solid fandom after the Phantom Pain came out in 2015. I gained popularity for my reader inserts which also included male reader inserts, which had been I guess lacking in the industry. I also wrote so much smut. Poorly.
This was then followed by a period of writing fanfiction for Marvel with primarily female reader inserts. These were less smut focused and more “slice of life” fics I suppose you could say. Everything is on AO3 under the same username as here, but I no longer write really and honestly, a lot of those stories I feel pretty disconnected from at this point. They are locked, as I was one of so many who was part of the AI scrape on there; that in and of itself was disheartening.
Outside of that, I have a ton of hobbies and interests. I’m a late diagnosed AuDHD individual and it shows. Current things that I’m into are anything fiber art related (spinning, knitting, weaving, etc.), anything art related (I’m getting back into drawing and painting, and I do a lot of coloring), and anything bird related. I’m also fairly big on my relationships with my deities, and I have aspirations to write a book about it eventually.
I work in higher education and am very passionate about what I do, have a silly Velcro cat who I adore, and really enjoy nature. This blog goes through periods of furious activity and periods of stagnation, and a lot of my older posts under “Birdie speaks” are no longer relevant as they were before my life shifted, but I keep them up for the historical sake of it.
I can be found on other corners of the internet also, so DM for user handles and I’m happy to share.
Also, because it needs to be said in this day and age, but Human Rights are non negotiable and do not qualify as “a difference of opinion”. This is a safe space for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and everyone else except those who think the orange in office is correct. (In that case, please see yourself out.)
Alright, now that that’s all good…welcome!
