The foxes reactions to Red White and Royal Blue
He read the book back when he was younger and only dreamed that he could have what they had
Added to the fact that he also is in a long distance relationship Nicky has never found a book he loves this much
He watched it for the first time on ft with Erik and they both are silent through the whole movie except for small gasps or sniffles
Normally during their movie dates they talk and laugh over top of the movie using it as background noise to their date but for this they don’t say a word
After it’s done Nicky looks at Erik for the first time and sees they are both silently crying
Nicky gets a plane ticket for the next free weekend to go see Erik and if they watch the movie two more times wrapped around each other on the couch, no one but the two of them is there to see it
And in that moment Nicky is so glad he found such an understanding partner who is willing to go through all of this long distance bs and still love him at the end if it
Ever since Nicky got back from his Erik weekend he has not stoped pestering Andrew about this fucking movie
Little does Nicky know that Andrew is no stranger to rwrb
Andrew first listened to the book in a time when he count read
The meds Andrew was forced on made his brain so hyperactive that sitting down to read a book was an impossible task
(Just another thing the meds stole from him)
Andrew found the book one night when he couldn’t sleep and almost immediately fell in love
He finished the book as soon as he could and immediately began it again
The book became a safe place for him
Whenever there was a sleepless night or an afternoon where he couldn’t get out of bed there was always the book to play in his ears and keep him company
Andrew now had someone to talk him down from a late night panic attack, he had someone to keep him company during the restless days
And if Andrew secretly adored the things that Alex did that reminded him of Neil no one had to know
When the movie came out Andrew had to watch it
So on the next free day the foxes have after it comes out Andrew drags Neil to their bed with a pile of blankets a carton of ice cream and his laptop
Booting up the movie they watch it cocooned in blankets and each other
Andrew is not disappointed by the movie at all
Sure they cut some stuff and tweaked a few plot lines but it was still the book that Andrew loved come to life and he could not complain about that
Neil doesn’t care much for movies
He never got to watch them as a child with the exceptions being at school, on a plane, or to learn the language of whatever country they were going to next
But Neil also know that Andrew has something he’s excited about
Where others can’t see Andrews feeling Neil often can read them loud and clear
as the relive date draws closer Neil feels an excitement in Andrew that he doesn’t know the cause of but loves none the less
Neil knows Andrew rarely shows his joy
From years of his interests being used against him Neil knows Andrew has been conditioned in apathy
So one night when Andrew and Neil are alone in their dorm and Andrew tugs Neil into what he can’t help but call “their bed” pulling out his laptop, ice cream, and extra blankets, Neil settles down and doesn’t say a word as Andrew boots up a movie
It only takes a passive glance at Andrew for Neil to know this is important to him
Neil ends up quite enjoying the movie
He laughs at some of the jokes and gasps at all the right parts but the pice of it that he loves most of all is how enraptured Andrew is by the whole thing
When they reach the end Andrew glances at Neil with a quirked eyebrow
Neil simply smiles and says leaning further into Andrew and smirking slightly “I like it and I like that you like it”
Andrew promptly throws his pillow at Neil
After a small pillow fight ensues and they both calm down Neil leans into Andrew once more and says softer this time “I’m glad you showed me I genuinely did enjoy it.”
And with that Neil knows Andrew caught the real meaning of his words. That not only was Neil thanking Andrew for showing him a good movie but thanking him for showing Neil a pice of Andrew that not many got to see
Ok I know it says foxes buttt I think it’s long enough already. So let’s just stick with these three for now
