I think the purelily vs shadowvanilla shipper wars are a bit funny as someone who played in 2021, was a diehard purelily shipper, quit and came back 2025 and became a diehard shadowvanilla shipper too bc guys. Pv has two hands

i think silent salt is really interesting bc i feel he himself sees his corruption pinacle as when he slaughtered all those cookies in the land of silence as seen in beast yeast 11/12 i forgot which one but personally, i feel one of the biggest moments where he abandoned solidarity is when he ultimately chose to turn his back on the other beasts and silence them, rather than help or at least see for himself their corruption
Because as far as he’s aware he only heard from rumours and secondary sources that the beasts had abandoned their virtues, and rather than acting with solidarity and supporting his fellow virtues, he silenced them.
Im especially curious about the imprisonment because as we see from the beast backstory eps, it’s less the beasts going haywire mad, and more just shunning cookiekind. Especially after (spoilers) episode 14 the shadowmilk/fount flashback, wherebg it was cookiekind doing a lot of the warfare and violence.
So then just wonder, if the beasts pre-tree were ever all mad and violent, or rather, if their time in the tree festered resentment that caused them to be more violent in the present day?
Of course i dont doubt the beasts committed atrocities before the silver tree, but i wonder if it was moreso, they joined the war and chaos instead of being the ones who started it
To be fair, from what he knew, they were responsible for what had happened to his knights, and would have continued to spread chaos everywhere if left alone. Besides, is it truly his responsability that the beasts corrupted and were left without support, when he himself was struggling to teach weaker cookies solidarity and protect them by himself ? Did he really turn his back on them, when he never agreed with their actions or beliefs ?
Like, it was'nt a perfect solution, but there was'nt anything better he could've done, I think. Altough I think it's an interesting debate for sure ; What would be better :
Should he seal the beasts, and stop them from commiting any harm to the rest of the world, even though it will worsen their mental health and thus make them more unstable, sad and dangerous, knowing they might one day be freed ?
Or should he have tried to help and reason with them, a solution that would last much longer, but at the cost of his own mental health and many lives ruined, with a very low chance that he would succeed with how disasterous his anger became ?
Either way, like often, what makes this so intersting is that none is truly perfect. No matter the outcome, Silent Salt, torn up in rage and grief, and the other beasts in despair and sadness, would never end up truly well, as innocent lives, wether theirs or not, wether by their doing or not, would continuously be destroyed. They all need help from someone who, preferably, is ready to be patient and kind to them, and Silent Salt is with the beasts, including himself, neither one nor the other. Had he decided to act in solidarity with the others, he could not have saved them, and comdamned cookiekind to much suffering, for he was too far gone to be capable of gentleness towards them anymore.
To me at least, his corruption was the moment he decided to give up on himself. He could not have acted diferently during the great barren massacre, not with the sting of betrayal and his comrade's bodies lying all around him. When he deemed himself undeserving to keep fighting for the good of cookiekind, when in the face of his own mistakes he wished simply to die instead of living, when he chose to give up on all he once was to embrace the abyss forevermore, is when he corrupted to me. Him sealing away the beasts is only a byproduct of this mindset.
Or maybe I'm reaching too far idk
You make a good point!!! While I don’t fault salt for the choice he made and it was fairly sound, and he had no obligation to ‘save’ the other beasts before the silver tree, i do think its interesting how technically, sealing aka silencing the beasts betrays his virtue as well.
Salts action is understandable though because from his pov he was runninf himself thin trying to maintain his virtue helping cookies, only to hear that supposedly his other virtues had abandoned their role.
But seeing as we’ve never seen the beasts pre-imprisonment / post dominion of the beasts (outside of elder faeries story, which now we know isnt the full truth) partake in the chaos, so i just like to entertain the idea they didnt have an initiator role but rather became participants in the war because i’m just a sucker for redemption-“theyre not as bad as they seem” plotlines 😭
Thank you for the interesting discussion :D i love this cookie game….
(im still learning how tumblr works….. idk if this works as a reply…)
