i keep seeing people say shit like “you cry queerbaiting because you didn’t get the representation you wanted”. are you serious? are you fucking serious? if i didn’t have tumblr or twitter or instagram and my sole source of information was the show itself, i would have no idea that shiro is gay. you expect me to recieve the fact that shiro is gay and that shiro and adam were in a relationship from a vague-ass conversation? i shouldn’t have to log onto tumblr to see that shiro’s gay, i should be able to see it in the show, because that’s good storytelling. good storytelling is not having to explain certain details of your story outside of your story because you included them in the plot, or the subplot. if i were to take an inherently romantic conversation from voltron, let’s say, two characters flirting (not using any specific ships here because this could apply to many) i bet the voltron writers would say “no, that’s not romantic.” you cannot tell me that you expect me to come to the conclusion that shiro is gay and that shiro and adam were in a relationship from a comversation that doesn’t even have romantic undertones, aside from the “takashi, how important am i to you?” and even then, that line is still incredibly vague. you can’t take anything from it. and then, you use the “bury your gays” trope, killing off half of your confirmed representation, without even confirming within the actual show that he was rep! your writing has provided nothing for LGBT+ viewers of voltron other than disappointment

Okay. This whole "queer baiting" needs to stop. Shiro is already an lgbt representative and even if klance doesn't become canon we can't go pointing fingers complaining about us not getting what we want. I'm not saying you are one of them but this is the type of stuff that gets into klantis's heads which leads to them harassing voice actors and writers. Can we just enjoy the show? Even if klance doesn't become canon, it will still be one of the most popular ships.

yes shiro is indeed gay. it was announced at this year’s sdcc. in the episode they showed at the panel we get a few glimpse of adam, his boyfriend :D rejoice!

we had great news tonight, but please don’t be rude to people who are still hoping lance will get his bi arc. many people like me see ourselves in him and it’d mean a lot to be represented in a character that is so important to us, and see him grow and get to know himself. people have been hoping for this for two years. having one gay character in the show is great but it’s not a limit or a checkbox in a list and people are allowed to hope to get even more representation and diversity. lgbt people aren’t selfish or greedy for wanting more.

people pushing for this are not ungrateful for shiro being gay. we’re all celebrating that as well! and it’d just mean so much to see a character that we’ve grown to know and love, being guided by his mentor who is also a gay man, t figure out himself and what he likes. bi youth experience confusion and struggle with coming to terms with their sexuality and this would be so important for us to have a character go through that in a kid’s show
