your sexuality is valid, and anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is simply just wrong. they cannot tell you what you are or aren’t.

if you have a preference for one gender, no matter how strong, you are not any more or less bi than anyone else. bi means two genders, not necessarily that you like 50% men and 50% women.

if one day you conclude that maybe you’re just gay or just straight, you’re not proving that bisexuals always choose a side. you are not disproving anyone’s sexuality. you really aren’t, so please don’t ever feel like you are.

i know you aren’t doing it for attention, that’s just your sexuality.

i know you aren’t doing it to be ‘sexually promiscuous’, that’s just your sexuality.

i know you aren’t being greedy, that’s just your sexuality.

if anyone adds ‘but…..’ to any of the three bullets above, they’re negating the first part of the sentence. you aren’t those things, and there are no ‘buts’ to be said about that.

being bisexual/biromantic is not a ‘girl thing’. it exists in all genders. if you’re a girl, you are not bi just because you’re a girl. and if you’re not a girl, you can still be bi, it’s still just as valid of a label.

if someone of the opposite gender won’t date you because you’ve been with someone of the same gender before, they’re not worth your time.

if someone of either gender won’t date you because they’re afraid of losing you to someone of their opposite gender, they’re not worth your time either.

reminder: bisexuality/biromanticism is the attraction to two or more genders. please remember there are more than two genders.

bi means two is an outdated definition of the bi identity.

having preference for genders is normal, yes, but just reiterating that bi is the attraction to two or more. a bi person can have a pref for one gender and still feel some attraction to others. or they can feel attraction to a variety of genders within the same level.

second note: “opposite gender” is a binarist term; meaning it relies on the gender binary of man/woman. 

the gender binary is exclusive of everyone who does not identify with their assigned birth gender. this is why the definition of being bi has shifted to two or more genders - there are way more gender identities than whatever designated birth gender was put upon a person.

just, basically please remove this “opposite” “either gender” “bi means two” terminology because it excludes literally every bi person who does not ID with their assigned birth gender. nonbinary, trans, genderfluid, bigender, etc. there are a lot of us gender noncomforting/outside the gender binary bi folks out here and it’s important to remember us!

the bi is attraction to two or more genders is one way that remembers to include us and helps remove outdated, binarist terminology :)
