imagine you’re sidney crosby. you’re playing like a 25 year old at 36, carrying your team despite the dead weight strapped to your back due to the failures of three different gms in three years. as a reward for your efforts, your current gm trades away your best winger and the guy you’ve been grooming to be your successor, likely in order to get more leverage to offload the bad acquisitions he made last summer. the national broadcast thought it would be okay to mention you went to the team therapist yesterday. the coach who should have been fired three months ago continues to ice the same pairings that have led to disaster all season. you are looking down the barrel at another season without playoffs, after four consecutive first round exits, and you know there is nothing you personally can do to fix it. because you’ve been trying all fucking season and it hasn’t mattered.
