Finally finished the designs for the toon handlers in my AU! Really happy, honestly, with how these turned out.
AU Rambling Under The Cut:
Shanon Mendez: After leaving Gardenview, she took a job at a dinosaur museum/park, continuing her life in a manner very similar to what she had prior. Even with the distractions, she still can't help to miss Shelly a lot, and is one of the ones who immediately supports Austin's idea to break back into Gardenview and find out what really happened.
Devan Reed: Works as a door-to-door salesman, as he wants to distance himself from nature cause it reminds him too much of Dandy. Upbeat and positive, he is just masking his pain of not knowing what happened to his little buddies. He is skiddish at first about going back to Gardenview, but drops his mask and gains a burst of motivation to get the toons back.
Sam Mclaughlin: During their time at Gardenview, they were also going to medical school. After Gardenview shut down, they sank into depression, and it started to show in their school life. Due to this, they dropped out to work at a local diner, but still possess a vast knowledge of medical information. Similar to Veronica, they were against the idea of returning to Gardenview at first, knowing the dangers that could happen. Though after it was brought up that Sprout and Cosmo might be in danger, they jumped on board with some "professional " excuse for why they are going back.
Austin Russo: The most affected by Gardenview shutting down. He lost a lot of his ability to focus on his self-care, along with a sudden onset of insomnia and narcolepsy caused by an unknown force. He stays at home and takes care of the place while the others are out, but sometimes they come home to him passed out in odd places. He speaks of a recurring dream that has been happening every time he gets any sort of sleep, in which a large humanoid monster chases him down the hallways of Gardenview. He believes someone from the past is calling out for help, and is determined to uncover the truth.
Veronica Hurley: Stressed about being let go from Gardenview, she starts to become rather closed off and to herself, taking up jobs in technology related to computers and television. Being the most cautious of the group, she keeps suggesting that they should contact Arthur instead of breaking into Gardenview, but ultimately follows along to keep her friends from getting themselves killed. Like the others, she couldn't fight her own deafening thoughts that something might have happened to Vee and the other toons.

when I started posting I sometimes wondered if folks would dislike how I make the toons look a lot different than their usual simplified style, but you guys have shown me nothing but kindness and I really really appreciate that :)
(also Sprout is way too gluttonous to give you tapes. He's gotta get those 1,000 tapes)

Kind of funny how when you're obsessed with a certain character their mere presence on your screen can lift your mood. Like yeah I have probably like 10 diagnosed and undiagnosed ways my brain works atypically but one of those quirks makes it possible for The Character to salvage my whole day.
