MXKA new album Xclusiva out today, which I am very excited for. MXKA (pronounced Mocha), if you haven't heard her, does a very incredible job mixing R&B and contemporary latin influence into "R&B Tumbados" (from the genre of corridos tumbados, I'm learning).
Tattoo is amazing. Lulling. MXKA's voice is otherworldly. And then in the title track, Xclusiva, it is just as light and fun as it needs to be. Tu X Yo smacks of R&B from the early 00s somehow and I found myself replaying it. The whole album is a dream. MXKA captures your attention and brings it exactly where she wants it, and I'm excited to say this album is now one of my favorites for the vibe alone.
If I had to be nitpicky about something I would say it's that none of the songs are very long. None of them are over 3 minutes, but that truly didn't bother me. Maybe that's the tumbados genre, or maybe not, but the songs felt as long as they needed to be.
Overall, this was an amazing album. Xclusiva, I'll be vibing to you for a while, I think. Everybody say 'Thank you, MXKA'.
